WASHINGTON: Some Muslim-American groups are supporting a fatwa issued by a body of Islamic scholars forbidding Muslims from going through full body scanners at airports, a media report said.
The Fiqh Council of North America issued the religious ruling this week that says going through the airport scanners would violate Islamic rules on modesty, Free Press reported.
"It is a violation of clear Islamic teachings that men or women be seen naked by other men and women," reads the fatwa issued Tuesday. "Islam highly emphasises haya (modesty) and considers it part of faith. The Quran has commanded the believers, both men and women, to cover their private parts."
After the Christmas Day bombing attempt in Detroit by a Muslim suspect from Nigeria, some US airports are now in the process of buying and using the body scanners to find explosives and other dangerous materials carried by terrorists.
But Muslim groups say the scanners, which show in graphic detail the outlines of a person's body, go against their religion. One option offered to passengers who don't want to use the scanners would be a pat down by a security guard. The Muslim groups are urging members to undergo those instead.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) says it endorses the fatwa. "We support the Fiqh Council's statement on full-body scanners and believe that the religious and privacy rights of passengers can be respected while maintaining safety and security," Nihad Awad, national executive director of CAIR was quoted as saying.
Currently, there are 40 full-body scanners at 19 airports in the US, including two in Detroit, said spokesman Jim Fotenos of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). There are plans for 450 more body scanners in US airports, he said.

They prefer airplanes because their culture never had/has any hope of achieving the level of technology necessary to make a working one.
Its all because they have little weiners.
They can drive can’t they? Buses and trains still run in many places. It would be OK with me if Muslims just stayed home.
I am sick of Muslim whining about how America violates their religion in one way or another. Come to think of it, I am sick of Muslims.
If I hear another reminder from anybody that ALL Muslims are not bad people, I think I’ll puke. I want to see all of those GOOD Muslims out in the street condemning the terrorist, jihadist Muslims.
I want to hear a definitive statement from our government stating that concerns expressed by outfits like CAIR will not be considered in matters of national security. I know that will not happen under Obama, but it should have under George W. Bush. I guess he was too busy trying to force amnesty for millions of illegal aliens on the American People to address the issue.
No, get this, in Europe the muslims want female doctors only for female muslim patients. Causes all kinds of havoc in emergency rooms such as fist fights with the muslim husbands if there’s no female doctor on duty.
I guess that, by “fatwa” that all muslims will no longer be able to fly. Too bad.
Solution for muzzies: Stay off planes and Stay away from airports.

When muslim fatwas are outlawed,

First step would be ending all travel visas for non-resident aliens from 40+ Muslim nations.
Finally something I agree with them on.
They can walk or ride a camel across the country then.
No one has a right to fly.
When you learn to think like a liberal, a third option presents itself: Muslims are exempted; everybody else gets scanned.

So, all we have to do to get Americans to give up their liberties abd be for such machines is to have Muslims be against such machines? We’re too stupid to survive as a nation.
We certainly can’t impose security measures that offend the jihadists! (When did America go collectively insane?)
Perfect, time to install the scanners in all airports, train stations, government buildings, bus terminals, public bathrooms, restaurants, smoking lounges, public spaces, and interstate highways.
This is going to work out much better than I expected.
Now we know why the ACLU is against the use of these machines.
Makes one wonder how much money is donated to the ACLu by Cair and al queda.
If this is true, make it a requirement to board any airplane. That should stop all air borne terrorism.
