Port St. Lucie's school system has an interesting way of dealing with disruptive students.
The same school district that allowed an autistic boy to be voted out of kindergarten class for being a bit unruly has a far worse penalty for 6-year-old little girls.
Handcuffs and straight jackets.

I saw plenty of tantrums in my day as a student long, long ago. The solution was simple and the problem solved in under 5 minutes. The kid got swatted, and shaped up. Then got swatted again by the parents at home. Today, the parents would sue, plain and simple. Who needs the aggravation?
That deserves its own thread....
I agree with you wholeheartedly, though in my ex’s case I think the officer made the right call by trying to scare the kid straight. Trying to push a teacher down the stairs is a major leap from a tantrum.
Do you think the principle would understand what he was being punished for?

There are bunch of them!
This is another sociatial abortion brought by leftist lawyers.
I went out with a teacher who claimed that it was the “No child left behind” program that has pushed for “inclusiveness” to include developmentally disabled in regular classrooms. Was she right or was it really lawsuits?
It was the lawsuits and leftist policies.
Port St. Lucie is the Florida equivalent to Rio Linda.
I made that typo on here once, but I corrected it. Bad school, bad story, bad writing.
I put my very young 5 year old son in public school kindergarten and within a month they wanted him in a severe behavior disability classroom. I said no way and pulled him out. Horrible........my other son was in third grade and I pulled him out a month later. I will always regret having the older one in school for the three years.
Now I sub and tutor in the public schools and thank God every day that my kids are not in that mess. Breaks my heart.
Oh....I forgot the kindergartner was fine in boy scouts and church and still is. Not sure what was happening with that teacher or him in that environment to not “sit still” and obey.
A few days later, the girl had another fit, allegedly hitting the school's principal in the stomach. The principal, who was eight months pregnant, called the same deputy, who then tossed the little girl in the back of his patrol car and transported her to the local adult mental institution.
If I'm reading right, there were TWO incidents: The girl was put into handcuffs one day, and a few days later she was put into handcuffs AGAIN and taken to the mental institution. (?) So, she was cuffed once, and then sent back to school, only to be cuffed again a few days later, this time taken to an institution. Why send the child back to the same school after the first incident?
Anytime! Glad to help.
“No Child Left Behind” was created in 2001. This problem has been around much longer. It was because of law suits. Ninety-nine percent of the classroom problems could be cured if parents would discipline their kids. There was a time when you knew if you got into trouble at school, there would be hell to pay when you got home.
To those who paint public schools akin to Satan didn’t bother checking out the local school before moving into the district. Find a good school and encourage your kid to get into honor classes where the kids want to learn, and you won’t have those problems.
She is wrong because they were mainstreaming children with problms in the mid 90’s when I woked with a woman who had a violent autistic child that the school wanted out of class and she was using a lawyer to force the school to keep him in regular school. He was a huge 14yo who liked to tackle people and was quickly becoming a danger to all who were around him but his Mom couldn’t see that.
” Schools in many ways are like prisons. Children who have committed no crime have all of their First Amendment Rights trashed. They can not speak freely, or publish, their right to freely practice or express their religion is crushed. And...It is the government who choose with whom they will assemble.
They are driven around in buses that look like work gang buses. Their schools look like minimum security prisons. They are marched around in groups like prisoners. Like prisoners they are told by the government when they can eat, rest, exercise, and use the bathroom. In some schools the bathrooms are actually less safe than prison bathrooms.
Then when a child ( who has committed no crime) rebels he is hauled off to the big house.”
Typical uninformed misleading crap.
Filch: “How I miss the screaming.”
Yeah, they're with the rest of the BDSM stuff...
