Medina is facing off in a GOP primary with Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.
Medina's absurd comments to Beck about U.S. government involvement in 9/11 included this gem:
"I dont have all of the evidence there, Glenn, so Im not in a place, I have not been out publicly questioning that. I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard, there are some very good arguments and I think the American people have not seen all the evidence there, so I have not taken a position on that."
Perry and Hutchinson immediately ripped Medina for such ignorant comments

Medina was offered a chance to clarify her stance on Michael Berry’s drive-time show this afternoon. 740 AM is the biggest afternoon radio market in Texas. She declined, so now he’s ripping her to shreds.
I have always been a Perry supporter and am always glad to help his campaign. Have had little to say about Medina because I was waiting for her to implode but this is the worst implosion I have seen.
It is not a dirty political game this time — she did it to herself — no one to blame but Medina for not answering a simple question and then trying to spin about the Truthers. If you think this is dirty politics, then politics might not be to your liking. This is not even close to being dirty to tell the truth in her own words. Blaming Perry people is a joke.
This is what candidates love to have handed to them — they don’t have to do a thing when even the Kansas City Star jumped in.
It should teach candidates a lesson that if they are not qualified they might want to run for the State House not for Governor. She left herself wide open but then her wanting to do away with property taxes which you can deduct from your federal tax in lieu of sales tax which you cannot wasn’t a very smart move as well.
Just because she came from the Tea Party movement doesn’t make her qualified. You all should have realized after the last year that people are not in the mood to have someone unqualified that needs OJT as a candidate and at the first sign of trouble, they will pounce. This was a major gaffe today and one that cannot be repaired.
In Texas of all states to try to weasel word on 9/11 with the Truthers has got to be one the biggest gaffes I have seen when you are running in a Republican primary.
Can you say Ross Perot? A ringer to steer the GOP primary, put up by whacko Texas Dems. Texas is a great, but often weird state.
Wow. That was weird. Sorry for the editing error. Here was the actual response ...
>> Not many American politicians would dare to make such statement for fear of offending Islam even the truth is hard to declare for them.
She’s a brave woman, and a credit to this nation (/sarc).
Please. She’s backpedaling. There are many conservative politicians that would have no problem making that exact statement — and would’ve done so in response to the damn question, rather than in a CYA statement. I’m pretty sure Perry’s one of them.

She is toast. This much damage this easily indicates no depth in her support.
“She thought she was going to be interviewed about her policies and what she would do if elected Governor. Beck was a jerk!!”
And thank goodness Beck was a “jerk”. He just exposed a nutjob before she had a chance to rise any further on the political ladder. What a whackjob! Thanks Glenn for asking the exact right question at the exact right moment in time.
Thank God for the Beck interview.
I was impressed with her debate answers, I spent a couple hours yesterday evening going over the details of her “sales in lieu of property taxes” proposal. It’s actually quite well done.
She started the interview poorly, sounded stiff and robotic. I was willing to overlook that - talking on live feed isn’t as easy as it seems.
When she started waffling around the truther question, I was stunned. When Beck gave her a second chance to clarify and she waffled again - this time even worse - I started thinking of which RINO would be worse, the cheerleader, or the other cheerleader.
There is no way to recover from this deplorable lack of basic judgment. Not only was she waffling, she was absolutely wrong. EVERY question that has been asked in this regard has been answered to the nth degree.
Anyone who can disregard the volumes of evidence on how the buildings fell is a gullible wrong headed fool.
Glad I waited to hear the interview before sending money.
She issued a very strong rebuttal. Her brand of state sovereignty is exactly what we need to be pushing. Get the feds out of healthcare, the environment, business altogether.
After 9 years, a Presidential 9/11 commission, countless web site cross references disproven and idiotic “no plane crash into the Pentagon” claims.... this put up job candidate cannot answer what any sane individual knows... “No, I don’t think the govt. was involved in the 9/11 attacks with foreknowledge or with a coverup about it” This woman joins the famous ranks of Cynthia McKinney. It isn’t Perry’s people...it is any number of people who have had a long time to examine all kinds of detail.
I’m not a Texan so I have no dog in this fight, however, I did hear the whole interview live and she’s the one that came off as a jerk. I swear she never took a breath between sentences, whole paragraphs even. It was hard for Beck to get a word in and he had to ask her about her history twice. She has a very grating personality.
Thanks for that info. So she was ratted out by somebody. What in her past would lead someone to believe she was a truther?
You had to hear the whole show, before the interview. Beck was going on about how the Tea Party movement was opening doors to people with no track record, people we know nothing about and that we should be careful of people who claim to be one thing and turn out to be something else. He was dead on with Medina
For those of you in TX, and it may take a while for my post to make it to the thread, what do you think about her position on eliminating property tax and replacing it with a “revenue neutral” sales tax. To me that’s pandering to the rich with lots of assets, ranchers with lots of acreage, etc. Just asking.
I am very interested in her stance on replacing property tax with a sales tax. Aparently those who don’t own any property and simply rent don’t realize it’s their pocket book she’s aiming to dip into.
“She has a very grating personality.”
Yeah, it’s good to have good personalities like 0bama. Man, he speaks so well.
Principles be damned, gimme the hot one who doesn’t grate.
Ship of fools.
Truthers suck
“Debra Medina was not one who could save this country from the hard left.”
And certainly not from the hard right Ao.
Truly pathetic, ari.
