I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Obama used a similar phrase in his STOU. What rules are they supposed to follow? They are here illegally and by law, should be deported. For those of you who are not familiar with the language of deception that is part of the amnesty scam, e.g., undocumented workers, getting to the back of the line, coming out of the shadows, an earned path to citizenship, etc., playing by the rules means that we will only deport the estimated two million criminal aliens and allow the rest to stay.
Our states are being invaded. The Constitution guarantees the states protection from invasion. The President of the United States swears to uphold the Constitution. That’s the bottom line. Either they will keep their oath or they won’t.

The proponents of amnesty are wont to create the false choice between a blanket amnesty and mass deportation of 12 to 20 million illegal aliens. In reality, we have other choices and alternatives that don’t reward people who have broken our laws with the right to stay and work here and an eventual path to citizenship. The 12 to 20 million illegal aliens did not enter this country overnight and they will not leave overnight. Attrition through enforcement works. We have empirical data from experiences in Georgia, Colorado, and Arizona proving that it does. Specifically, we need to:
• Secure the borders. You cannot deal with those already here illegally without cutting off the endless supply of those wanting to enter illegally. Until the borders are secured, it is absurd to discuss additional guest worker programs and amnesty.
• Fully implement the US-VISIT Program. There are over 4 million aliens now in illegal status, i.e., people who entered legally as tourists or students or temporary workers but did not leave when their visa expired. We need a system that tracks who enters and leaves the country and deport those who overstay their visas. More than 30% of our illegal alien population come from visa overstays.
• Enforce existing laws against employers. Jobs are the magnets that attract illegal aliens. The government’s failure to enforce existing laws against employers and to create a proper employee verification program must end. The highly successful and effective voluntary E-Verify program has been temporarily extended by Congress but its future is still in doubt. This essential tool for preventing the employment of illegal aliens should be made permanent and mandatory, especially at a time when close to 16 million Americans and legal residents are out of work.
• Implement 287[g] nationwide. The federal government must provide state and local law enforcement with the training and access to databases to coordinate and leverage existing law enforcement assets to identify and deport illegal aliens who are committing crimes that have killed or injured tens of thousands of Americans.
• Enact state and local laws to discourage illegal settlement. Eliminate sanctuary cities and other benefits that reward illegal aliens and legitimize their presence.
• Streamline judicial processing and adjudication of immigration cases.
In the 1986 amnesty legislation, we tried amnesty without enforcement. It’s time to try enforcement without amnesty.

While that’s a pretty good list, I don’t support E-Verify. The idea of every American being in a government database and having to get permission from an agent of government to work is un-American. It amounts to giving up essential liberty to get some small measure of security. Very small.
Don’t take away my liberty because the politicians refuse to do their sworn duty.

I am providing facts based on my extensive experience on this issue. Palin will be forced to address the issue once she starts campaigning for McCain in AZ. It is the central issue in the campaign. Chris Simcox of the Minutemen is also in the primary. If Palin supports amnesty, then she will lose the support of most conservatives. An amnesty will destroy this country with the stroke of a pen. Everything else is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.L
I am part of the Tea Party movememt as well. The amnesty issue reasonates with them.
I just went and looked. Wikipedia doesn’t say that Keyes formed AIP. It says that supporters of Keyes formed it, which is accurate. As usual, you’re playing fast and loose with the facts.

Most move back and forth at will, working like a dog for a few months, then living like a king back home on the money they make. But of course the longer they stay transiently, the more some sink roots, have American kids, etc.
“How are you going to deport 20 million people” is the idea that a direct government solution is needed, government agents and mass arrests.
No new law even need to be passed, just enforcement of the current ones.
