To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

That’s certainly part of the answer. But not all of it.

Illegals not following the rules have to get out, that is called an amnesty?

Obama used a similar phrase in his STOU. What rules are they supposed to follow? They are here illegally and by law, should be deported. For those of you who are not familiar with the language of deception that is part of the amnesty scam, e.g., undocumented workers, getting to the back of the line, coming out of the shadows, an earned path to citizenship, etc., playing by the rules means that we will only deport the estimated two million criminal aliens and allow the rest to stay.

Our states are being invaded. The Constitution guarantees the states protection from invasion. The President of the United States swears to uphold the Constitution. That’s the bottom line. Either they will keep their oath or they won’t.

Agreed.

Who's going to deport them and by what means?

If you know, please name the politicians currently holding office who have suggested same and have articulated the means.

Do you really think “Deport all illegals” is going to work for anybody? It’s totally unrealistic

The proponents of amnesty are wont to create the false choice between a blanket amnesty and mass deportation of 12 to 20 million illegal aliens. In reality, we have other choices and alternatives that don’t reward people who have broken our laws with the right to stay and work here and an eventual path to citizenship. The 12 to 20 million illegal aliens did not enter this country overnight and they will not leave overnight. Attrition through enforcement works. We have empirical data from experiences in Georgia, Colorado, and Arizona proving that it does. Specifically, we need to:

• Secure the borders. You cannot deal with those already here illegally without cutting off the endless supply of those wanting to enter illegally. Until the borders are secured, it is absurd to discuss additional guest worker programs and amnesty.

• Fully implement the US-VISIT Program. There are over 4 million aliens now in illegal status, i.e., people who entered legally as tourists or students or temporary workers but did not leave when their visa expired. We need a system that tracks who enters and leaves the country and deport those who overstay their visas. More than 30% of our illegal alien population come from visa overstays.

• Enforce existing laws against employers. Jobs are the magnets that attract illegal aliens. The government’s failure to enforce existing laws against employers and to create a proper employee verification program must end. The highly successful and effective voluntary E-Verify program has been temporarily extended by Congress but its future is still in doubt. This essential tool for preventing the employment of illegal aliens should be made permanent and mandatory, especially at a time when close to 16 million Americans and legal residents are out of work.

• Implement 287[g] nationwide. The federal government must provide state and local law enforcement with the training and access to databases to coordinate and leverage existing law enforcement assets to identify and deport illegal aliens who are committing crimes that have killed or injured tens of thousands of Americans.

• Enact state and local laws to discourage illegal settlement. Eliminate sanctuary cities and other benefits that reward illegal aliens and legitimize their presence.

• Streamline judicial processing and adjudication of immigration cases.

In the 1986 amnesty legislation, we tried amnesty without enforcement. It’s time to try enforcement without amnesty.

If I heard that you robbed a bank back in 1982

I've been patient, and read this far, but you're either dissembling or sharp as a bag of marbles. Either way, go away.

You were his party chairman, are you saying that he has no role in the party now? Are you saying that you do not have communication with him now?

Wikipedia says that he formed AIP, he just walked away from it?

If people would stop hiring illegals for the business or homes most will return to Mexico.
A report out this week, with the loss of jobs in the U.S.
over 1 million illegals have returned to Mexico.

FReepers might want to picket those businesses and homes where illegals work until the business owners get a clue and the illegals have no place to work.

Why is it FReepers have a thing about not dealing with the people who hire illegals.

This solves a major part of the problem, but maybe that is what the chest thumpers don’t want they won’t have an issue.

They came here on their own and they will leave when what they came here for is no longer provided for them.”

You are living in a dream world.

A whole lot of them are not going to leave on their own.

While that’s a pretty good list, I don’t support E-Verify. The idea of every American being in a government database and having to get permission from an agent of government to work is un-American. It amounts to giving up essential liberty to get some small measure of security. Very small.

Don’t take away my liberty because the politicians refuse to do their sworn duty.

Oh, and the context of this thread is you Palin haters want her to say “all illegals need to be deported” before we will support her.

Wow I am impressed.

I was in a counter demonstration facing down 50,000 Mexicans
during the amnesty battles here in San Diego a few yrs. ago
when they marched to the Co. adm bldg.

I know first hand and why I support Sarah Palin.

I spent two years in San Diego (Mission Beach) when my ship was home-ported there. I know the area. I also have a second home in AZ.

I am providing facts based on my extensive experience on this issue. Palin will be forced to address the issue once she starts campaigning for McCain in AZ. It is the central issue in the campaign. Chris Simcox of the Minutemen is also in the primary. If Palin supports amnesty, then she will lose the support of most conservatives. An amnesty will destroy this country with the stroke of a pen. Everything else is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.L

I am part of the Tea Party movememt as well. The amnesty issue reasonates with them.

I just went and looked. Wikipedia doesn’t say that Keyes formed AIP. It says that supporters of Keyes formed it, which is accurate. As usual, you’re playing fast and loose with the facts.

How many years do you think this will take for approximately
40 million illegals?

The first and most important reason I oppose her is because she shares Ron Paul's pro-choice for states position on abortion.

That's a blatant misrepresentation of her position, and yet more parsing and squirreling of the language to wring a damnable statement from her (and no, I won't retrieve her original statement for you. Most people reading here have seen it posted, or heard it live when she said it).

You really do have a hidden agenda. Why don't you come right out and be honest about why you really oppose Sarah Palin?

And let me remind you that you haven't left the thread, and are not just "returning fire", as you said.

You're continuing a specious argument against Sarah Palin, when, as the national chairman of a political party you should recuse yourself from this discussion.

They came on their own for something, and they will leave when that thing is no longer available.

Most move back and forth at will, working like a dog for a few months, then living like a king back home on the money they make. But of course the longer they stay transiently, the more some sink roots, have American kids, etc.

“How are you going to deport 20 million people” is the idea that a direct government solution is needed, government agents and mass arrests.

No new law even need to be passed, just enforcement of the current ones.
