TYLER, Texas (AP) - Recent fires that destroyed or damaged several churches in eastern Texas were likely set by an individual or a group of people, federal authorities said Tuesday.
Fires that broke out at two churches near Tyler on Monday have not yet been ruled arson, but authorities are investigating them as such. They were reported within an hour of one another and there were signs that at least one of the churches had been broken into.
Since Jan. 1, eight churches—seven in eastern Texas and one in the central part of the state—have been set ablaze deliberately, authorities have said.

I love to see someone in action who is so powerful at making deductions.
It is sad. My parents old church was one of them that was burned in Athens, tx. Their church now has a shifts for 2 men to sit in the church with their rifles and coffee to stay awake during the night. Everyone there has stepped up cause they don’t want their church burned down. I’ll be in east Texas Friday. It is sad. This guy will eventually get caught and shot by a church member protecting their church. He’s been lucky so far.

I sincerely hope his luck runs out soon. I am not as forgiving as perhaps I should be. I am not into the “poor child had a bad time growing up so of course he does these things” scenario. Or whatever is the going excuse these days.
