Sen. John McCain's daughter Meghan McCain, who has crafted an image for herself as a voice for young Republicans, took on Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement on ABC's "The View" on Monday.

McCain also took a shot at the Tea Party convention, where Palin was the keynote speaker last weekend. The convention also featured former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), who said in his speech, "People who could not spell the word vote or say it in English put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House -- name is Barack Hussein Obama."

Tancredo added, "Thank God John McCain lost the election."

Meghan McCain said Tancredo's statements represented "innate racism."(continued)

Meanwhile, John McCain is running ads in Arizona, practically taking credit for the Tea Party Movement while painting JD Hayworth as some sort of entrenched Washington insider.

Juan McCain is a vile man with a vile family. Meghan got her “book deal” to bash Republicans. It is a bribe and payoff - this is how book deals work. No one will ever read her book.

Leaving aside McCain's statements, I'm not sure I understand what Tancredo is talking about here - is he saying that illegal aliens are responsible for voting Obama into office or that the average Obama voter is uneducated? As much as I oppose Obama, I don't believe either is true - and I don't see how such statements help the GOP.
