REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT
AT SIGNING OF MEMORANDUM ON CHILDHOOD OBESITY
Oval Office
9:16 A.M. EST
THE PRESIDENT: Good morning, everybody. I am so proud of the work that the First Lady, along with the Cabinet Secretaries behind me, have done in trying to tackle one of the most urgent health issues that we face in this country, and that is the increase of childhood obesity.
And because of the outstanding planning that they've done, they are going to be rolling out a terrific plan of action that involves the private sector as well as government agencies coordinating much more effectively a lot of public information out there to help parents make good decisions about allowing their children to be active and eating healthier.
And what the executive order I'm going to be signing today does is to create a 90-day plan that allows optimal coordination as we move forward, in addition to the coordination that we're doing with private sector companies and not-for-profits and other organizations out there that are interested in this issue.
So we think that this has enormous promise in improving the health of our children, in giving support to parents to make the kinds of healthy choices that oftentimes are very difficult in this kind of environment. And so I just want to say how proud I am of the First Lady for her outstanding work and I will now sign this order.

As I was reading just what was posted on the header,
I kept hearing the sounds of a toilet flushing away huge
amounts of our money into the River Obama.
Yes, indeed, it’s another boondoggle, a kind of appetizer for the still-undead ObamaCare, and will be heralded as being ‘wildly popular’ and effective wherever it’s tried,
like ‘Cash for Clunkers’. It’s just another excuse to create a First Lady Vanity Project , putting forth information and practical “guidance” that we already know all about, and is already coming from a variety of sources
(not that that ever bothers Government, which is expert at duplicating and interlocking programs).
Everything this Administration has done and continues to do
only compounds all our problems, and makes me wonder how long Zero will last, SHORT of his first term.A little thing like this certainly won’t be the tipping point, but as I’ve said for months, the real tipping point could easily come sonner rather than later, and will catch us by surprise.
Everybody’s got their hopes pinned on November, which I think will reverse the majorities, but that means we’ve still gotta watch The Education of Barack Obama for an ADDITIONAL two years, as he tries to position himself as more reasonable and moderate, a la Clinton 1994. Personally, it’s not gonna be easy for me to watch this process.
Before you know it, we'll all be standing in line getting our "portion" of necessary nutrition. After that, we'll all go to the government "workout" center...where we will be measured and weighed.
Then we will be issued a uniform.....you have the picture....
Wow....”color” me surprised.
Let me guess....they’re setting this up so the next President will be called a racist when he sh!tcans all of these affirmative action hires.
This is just a prelude to the government taxing soft drinks, candy and fast food. There is a gold mine out there that Obama can tap into if he labels these foods as unhealthy and declares that the people who eat this stuff should pay higher taxes for them to offset the cost of their unhealthy eating habits to public healthcare. The smoking nazis will be joined by the obesity nazis.
The problem is the Obama’s don’t think of pork as fat but a need.
Just think about all the new jobs this will create!
ACORN - nutrition counseling centers
ACORN - healthy cooking classes
ACORN - dieting counselors
ACORN - dieting support groups
ACORN - exercise counseling centers
ACORN - personal trainers
ACORN - calorie counter programs
ACORN - support groups for the emotional trauma of dieting
ACORN - support groups for the emotional trauma of exercising
In the long term, a person will be paid to attend any of these programs. It will be their full time job to lose weight. With no accountability. All paid with Bambi’s magical stash of cash.
It would take two days for her to butt out.
Banish homework for elementary grades. That’s what got my kids when they were little.
We had to do homework when they came home, and by the fall it would be dark when they were done with homework. There was no time to play outside.
If he sat at his desk on a regular basis, he would realize that the chair is too short and would either push the lever to raise the seat up or order one that is taller. He looks like a little boy playing “pretend” at an adult’s desk. If you have to hunch your shoulders up to write (third picture), then your chair is way too short. (First picture looks like he trying to find a pen and doesn’t even know where they’re kept.)
yes, Michelle, MOVE you and yours out of the People’s House, NOW!
on the flip side they have been in school all day...let them play until dark then do homework....
MinuteGal sez: "Make hot fudge sundaes, not war."
Leni
We tried that, but they would be too tired to do homework in the evenings.
I thought this was photo shopped. Has to be one of her worst sweaters yet.
What really makes me sad about Michelle's campaign against obesity is that kids can't read nutrition labels or calculate calories because of our failing education system, so let's call in the government to control their food intake!
I went back and looked at the photos and you’re correct! LOL! I remember reading somewhere about how the Obama’s had redone the Oval office and how great it was. They put a bowl of apples on the coffee table and set up a bunch of Target- framed photos on the table behind his too large desk.
She reminds me of Flip Wilson/Geraldine.
No need to insult Flip Wilson.
;oD
