CNN) -- Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a longtime fixture on the House subcommittee that oversees Pentagon spending, died after complications from gallbladder surgery, according to his office. He was 77.
The Democratic congressman recently underwent scheduled laparoscopic surgery at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, to remove his gallbladder. The procedure was "routine minimally invasive surgery," but doctors "hit his intestines," a source close to the late congressman told CNN.

Lt.
Col. Chessani.
Or did I miss something? ;-)

He'd probably be alive today if he had only had the operation performed in Canada where SocialistCare is obviously so much better than anything we have here.
I could have told him this, but doubt if he would have listened to me.

My very kind and loving mother said, “I won’t miss him.”
I have to agree with mom in this case.

The hand of God reached across his distended body and touched the surgeons knife, guiding it to the filthy intestine which released its vile contents into the cavity of the evil Murtha, in one sweet stroke avenging the wrongs committed against so many of our great heroes in Iraq. God rest his evil soul.
I was going to say that perhaps the hand of God was at play in this because of his falsely accusing those Marines...
But you said it so much better than I ever could...

“He was part of the 2% risk category.”
Along with Hoss Cartwright of long ago TV fame. He never came out of the anesthetic after his gall bladder operation.

For which he should rightfully be honored.
Regretably, he chose to become the hallmark of political corruption. He deserves no honor for that.
PRayers for his soul and his family.

Oh, I didn't know how he died. I read a review about him a million years ago that said he was gentle man just like the character he played.

It was a shock and a loss.
My wife had similar surgery before we were married (years before Hoss’s operation), so I have been somewhat sensitive to celebrity gall bladder problems.

Laparoscopic surgery in the abdominal or pelvic area carries the risk of bowel perforation. It’s a small risk but it does happen.

Obama care would have denied the surgery and told him to take a pill. Too bad they didn’t pass it and have to live by it. If Murtha had Obama care instead of his cushy Cadillac policy, he’d be alive today.

Murtha was not a senator, thank God! He was a congressman, a very corrupt congressman who delivered the pork to his district, he was a fowl corrupt scumbag who would sell anything for a few bucks, but of course his vote. He held out in the ABSCAM sting operation for more bucks, so he missed his prison term. And yet he sat in our foul, corrupt, stinking, abject Congress for another decade.
Thank God he is fini!
To: MinuteGal
He was treated at the Bethesda Naval Medical Center. Therefore, ironically he was a direct victim of government health care. But I would not disparage Bethesda as it is a first rate medical intuition for major medical procedures. The elite pols and top military brass use it all the time. The problem with military medical services lies with the quality of care at less renown hospitals and the abysmal treatment for veterans with chronic diseases.
