A year ago, Barack Obama's true believers were euphoric. The huge and jubilant gathering in Chicago's Grant Park on Election Night 2008 gave way to almost 2 million people on the Mall for the president's inauguration.
He took office as the most popular incoming president in a generation. A movement had become a mandate of nearly 70 million votes. People hoped the new president would bring change to Washington, the hallmark claim of his historic candidacy.
Now, the mood through much of the nation seems restive, even sour. It is almost jarring to look at the photographs from Grant Park, to study those upturned beaming faces, many streaked with tears. Was that a movement? Or just a moment?

For those of us who were paying attention it was never there. You elected a Marxist. Now STFU!
Oh!I don’t know but I hoped Obama would dissapear the day he was elected resident.I won’t miss him when he’s no longer in office.
Oh, it was a “movement” alright........
my hope is that he steps down and goes back to Chicago.
The fact is that many were duped by this thug machine and a teleprompter .
Yea he said nice words but when you actually looked at him, listened to his words and then looked at who he hung around with then there was only one conclusion one could come to and that was he was a radical who was on a scam.
The media are the ones who look even more fools as they were the ones who pushed the Clintons aside in their desperation to have a non white guy at the helm , they twisted his background and even never questioning it.
Maybe next time the aging hippies and students might want to use a brain before voting again and the black community the extra 3 to 4 million of them who voted(course they said it had nothing to do with color which is B/S) might want to forget about looking at color and this brother hood crap and now think of themselves as Americans and not black
it was a movement to hope and change the current American constitution’s values.
They don’t call them “Dem-bulbs” for nothin’!
DID YOU 'HOPE' FOR 'CHANGE' TO COMMUNISM WHEN YOU VOTED FOR OBAMA???
They were ringing the bells then, but they’re wringing their hands now. Now if we could only wring something else, all would be well.
As promised - they changed.
Notice how there were “two million people on the Mall for the Inauguration”. There was no such claim at the time IIRC. It was just that the Tea Party now equires that there were at least that many at the Inauguration. History being rewritten before our eyes!
And I bet that the dope and the sex were just wonderful
Shortly after he took office when he put Rush in his gun sight I knew we had elected an empty suit. Here he had a majority in both houses and couldn’t tolerate this lone voice in the wilderness?
Good thing he didn’t have his civilian brown shirts mobilized or they would have necklaced their critics just like the like minded savior Nelson Mandela did in S Africa.
Yep, there are plenty of people who didn’t vote for him.
He got 52+ % of the popular vote. He won a clear victory in the Electoral College, but, his election was hardly a mandate. The MSM played it up as a mandate, and propagandized his whole campaign and election as the 2nd coming of either Camelot or another diety.
Where did the hopes for Obama go? It’s called rhetoric meeting reality. It’s also called lack of experience actually governing something. Something I questioned when he was a candidate.
Why did he move back to the far left after campaigning as a leftist? I won’t say centrist, because he told people he was going to destroy the fossil fuels sector of the economy with his cap and trade, and he made a worse version of HillaryCare his centerpiece. All of his defining moments were captured in sound bites and videos, which the MSM refused to show, but anyone could see them on the web with little or no effort. The dummies in the middle voted for this fraud anyway.
He over-promised during his campaign...
He under-delivered during his tenure.
When he leaves office, it will be a hugely satisfying and long overdue bowel movement.
