Middletown, Connecticut rocked by explosion

An explosion in Middletown, Connecticut has rocked the town. Initial reports are that about a dozen people have been injured.
Middletown, United States - The Middletown Fire Department just said in a phone interview that they are in the process of putting out a second alarm. There are an unknown number of casualities. The explosion took place at NRG Power Plant on River Road. According to their web site they are the fossil-fueled electric generating plant in the state. Reports are saying that the blast could be felt as far away as Durham.

rough going, many areas have collapsed, one big bldg mostly affected, sketchy, keeps saying it’s all under investigation,

owners say there can be anywhere betw 100 + working any given day, most folks were evacuted at time of running test, seems why number is so low

Sounds like they are leaving a lot out.
Like #’s. They have to have some idea. They know whether there’s like a few people there unaccounted for or more like 50.
They are avoiding giving a number like the plague.

If there were an estimated 50 workers at the time and they can account for only 17, then the amount of fatalities is horrendous.

Wikipedia entry says:
"The plant's manager, Gordon Holk, said that contractors and other workers from O & G Industries, Ducci Electrical, and Keystone Mechanical Electrical were at the site when the blast occurred." But the source listed doesn't confirm that.

That’s what I’m thinking.
When I saw the clip of the dude talking about it being his friends and union brothers - and he was crying - I just felt so bad.
My husband works in a power plant and I know how close all those guys can be. They are with each other so much - working long hours and shift work. So sad.
