Tuesday's unequivocal statement by the Pentagon's top two officials that openly gay men and women shouldn't be barred from serving in the nation's military should be the beginning of the end of an outdated policy.
Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that repealing the Clinton-era "don't ask, don't tell" policy is "the right thing to do" because the policy forces service members to lie about themselves or abandon their careers. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said ending the prohibition is inevitable, because attitudes toward gays have changed among the public and in the military.
Unfortunately, the change likely won't come quickly. Congress must overturn the 17-year-old law, and several Republicans on the Senate committee quickly blasted the idea -- even though some, including Arizona Sen. John McCain, earlier had said they would consider a change if military leaders ever called for it.

Does anyone recall when the Leftwingtards were meoweling about how shameful it was we had prison guards at Abu Ghraib who were playing homosexual sex games with the prisoners?
It's like they don't remember that.
The real sex problem in the military isn't the absence of gays, it's the existence of perverts who have to be kept out, and keeping them out is going to catch the homosexuals in the same net and they won't even be there.
Wonder what Admiral Mullen does for a hobby?
The military doesn’t generally hire “well-qualified” people. They CREATE well-qualified people out of raw material. Lifting DADT may get them some “well-qualified” doctors and lawyers, but it’s not going to attract gay 18 year olds to wear ugly clothing and be dirty, cold, and tired all the time.
you forgot to put the vomit alert in the title
absurd conclusion...
“Ending ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ will draw well-qualified people into military careers”
Bullroar!
(The goal of all of this is to eventually approve homosexual “marriage”....in all states. And it will COST us in the areas of moral fabric, problems for those in the military, and in our economy. Period!)
Soon, we won't have an army, but a weird collection of trannies and other freaks.
Ending dont ask, dont tell will draw well-qualified people into military careers
Ending ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ will drive well-qualified warrior men away from military careers.
Women don’t belong in the fighting military, and neither do these rumpelstilzchens.
Wonder what Admiral Mullen does for a hobby?
LOL, immediately thought of crossdressing.
No it won’t. It’ll chase good people AWAY from the military.
This is nothing but an attempt to get the federal gov’t to recognize marriage and partnership, through medical and on base housing........they (gays) will use this as precident, to sue in every state for marriage citing the federal gov’t.

It will drive well-qualified and morally healthy men and women out of the services.
We don’t need to end DODT, we need to end the female soldier thing, IMHO. There was a news story on last night and my wife asked me what I thought about it. My answer was this, “Let’s see, do those two words really go together, ‘pregnant soldier’?” Be serious. TO satisfy that idiot Senator from Colorado, Patsy Shcroeder, we have foisted a daycare requirement and welfare program on our Armed Forces. What a disaster it has been. Of course none of the “perfumed princes” will admit it.
shall we allow cross dressers and then give them their own rooms and bathrooms? .
No one is discriminated against, the don’t ask is what homosexuals say they want and that is to keep their sexual perverted lifestyle private.
Gettign rid of don’t ask will not bring anything positive to the military and yet will bring a hell of a lot of problems
we have wars to be fought, we have Iran, N Korea, we have military cuts, we have China becoming a world power where we are not soon and yet Gates and the white hosue think this is important
If anyone is asking why is he dong this then the answer is easy
two fold
the military stands for traditions and morals , that is something the homosexuals hate
secondly Clinton failed like with the health care so obama is trying to prove and say look I passed what Clinton could not
this is all about gong against Clinton , remember when asked why he was doing this and that Clinton failed he replied “because you have me now”
not
Instead of the poorly qualified straight people who are in the military now? Is that what you mean? Because that is what you implied.
Some people just need to be slapped.
I served and would not serve again if they allowed open homo’s in the military, I do not want to witness homo parties on base, or homo pride parades nor do I want to share a room, shower etc with a homo.
I know guys still in who said they will leave and my two sons have now said they will not join either along with a couple of their friends .
so all they will do is to create problems in the military and will see a decline of good men and women not wanting to join but of course that doesn’t bother obama because he intends to build his million strong civilian security force to match that of the military and to be just as well funded
