The "sudden" drop in unemployment rates is simple labor department lying propaganda. It doesn't take a genius to add up the lies either. During this last December when there is normally an uptick in seasonal employement for the Christmas season there were still 85,000 more lay offs than new jobs (BLS stats). Then there is a NEW and recent revision of the jobs numbers to say they made a "mistake" in their calculations and there were almost a MILLION more lost jobs than they thought when the unemployment rate was 10%?
Oh, and my favorite, this month there is a net loss of some 20,000 jobs (not counting the seasonal Christmas employment layoffs). And somehow the unemployment rate goes DOWN?
This is Democrat new math with their media propaganda liars trying to place everything supposedly during the Bush admin. And now they are trying to spin their lies to make it LOOK LIKE Obama has somehow saved or created all these new jobs.
This is government and media propaganda at its best... It's time folks started challenging their "new math" and pointing out the blatant inconsistencies and LIES!
I agree with you that it's just lying propaganda...but there is a way for it to be accurate. That would be that so many people had their benefits run out that even though more people were laid off a bunch more ran out of benefits and no longer can claim being unemployed. Of course that's just a number game and doesn't change how many people are really without work...but dems don't care about employment anyway other than how it might impact their reelections.
The children and grandchildren of the folks on the Chicago Election board in 1960 are running the bureau of Labor statistics....
They are stalling for time. They “hope” the economy will recover so they can obviously take the credit. They really believe that their policies will spur job growth, when in reality it has the exact opposite effect. The will continue to finagle and fudge the numbers until it becomes so aggriegous that even the MSM can’t help them spin anymore. The death spiral of jobs lost-revenue-lost-more taxes will continue un abated until such time as the disaster is too big to hide................
Suppose we have two companies, one getting a productivity of 75% and the other only 25%. That would imply a productivity of 50% for both companies. The worse company would probably go out of business. All of a sudden we have a productivity of 75%, a nice increase.
Of course that number does not show those individuals who now have a productivity of 0% but it still looks good in the MSM. Am I missing something in this analysis?
In other words, 2 & 3 are Bush’s fault?
Actually I read somewhere that they did an overall adjustment downward. They even lowered the overall unemployment rate that included part timers and those who had unemployment benefits run out.
On top of that there are NO indications that they have adjusted their old statistical model that caused them to “miss” about 1 MILLION more people who were unemployed.
This is ALL DEMOCRAT PROPAGANDA PROMOTED BY THE DEMOCRAT MEDIA BECAUSE THEY KNOW IN THE NEXT ELECTION THEY ARE FRIED!
Not necessarily. They are just the result of statistical methods and a different labor market situation than seen in prior recessions. As opposed to prior recessions, businesses responded much more quickly to the slow down in economic growth by laying off workers. The models did not pick this up sufficiently, as they were in part based on labor market performance in prior economic cycles.
There are lies, damn lies, and statistics. But actually, this miracle thing is at least partially true. Because of automation, computerization and better processes, American industry is many times more efficient than 20 years ago. In many cases, we really can have 10 people do the work that 30-50 people were needed for in the past.
The problem, as you are seeing, is that productivity is not the same thing as employment. If 10 people can do the job once done by 30, we effectively lost 20 jobs. The goal of course is that those 20 can go and do other work and even further expand productivity. But in down times like this, there is no demand (or less demand) for that other work.
So progress is a real thing (we are WAY more productive) but it can have costs (the excess labor pool is available to expand into new productive use, but not enough new opportunities are coming up to take full advantage of that excess). With government and labor doing everything it can to suppress new opportunities, that situation is not going to change anytime soon.
Wrt to #3. Again, we have two different surveys. Methodolgy changes in one are not going to be reflected in the results of the other survey. they are measuring two similar but different things. So, nobody’s fault there. It just is what it is.
“This is ALL DEMOCRAT PROPAGANDA PROMOTED BY THE DEMOCRAT MEDIA BECAUSE THEY KNOW IN THE NEXT ELECTION THEY ARE FRIED!”
Dems control White House and Congress. The federal government workforce is predominately Dems. The media is DC is about 90% Dems. It’s little wonder that the numbers are dubious.
And you are surprised?
The .Gov statistics have been manipulated since the Clinton Era.
