Tea Party Fireworks: Speaker Rips McCain, Obama, 'Cult of Multiculturalism' (Tancredo slams McCain)

Ex-Rep. Tom Tancredo Suggests 'Civics, Literacy Test' Would Have Foiled Obama's Election; High-Priced National 'Tea Party' Convention Stirs Debate Among Factions.

BY STEVEN PORTNOY & JOHN BERMAN

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 4, 2010.

The opening-night speaker at first ever National Tea Party Convention ripped into President Obama, Sen. John McCain and "the cult of multiculturalism," asserting that Obama was elected because "we do not have a civics, literacy test before people can vote in this country."

The speaker, former Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., told about 600 delegates in a Nashville, Tenn., ballroom that in the 2008 election, America "put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House ... Barack Hussein Obama."

Tancredo did not stop at the Democratic president -- ripping McCain, R-Ariz., the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, for shaping up to be a repeat of "Bush 1 and Bush 2."

"Thank God John McCain lost the election," he said, voicing his belief that McCain would have presided over big budgets and lacked a tough stand against immigration.

Tancredo served 10 years in the House of Representatives and made a name for himself with his ardent opposition to immigration. He believes the 2008 election served to galvanize the right.

"This is our country," he told the crowd. "Let's take it back."

“Tom Tacredo supported McCain in 2008 General election”

I did too, it was a better choice than Obama.

They always call them the Democratic Party, instead of the Democrat party. I wonder why that is...

Go Tancredo!

Perhaps the term Marxists or Stalinist is a better description than Bolshevik.

Perhaps the term COMMUNIST is a better description and may even resonate with the masses -- most of whom have no idea what those other words mean or represent.

And the Liberals, Blacks and idiots of this nation elected a Commander in Chief who cannot pronounce the word "Corpsman"...he called it "Corpse-man" three times in one speech.

Do you sense a need to comment on Nobama's faux pas? :-)

And both were flagrantly unconstitutional!

Yep. Part of my "a pox on both their Houses" disaffection.

Because they DEMANDED it be so. Don't you remember shortly after the 2006 election, President Bush referred to the "democrat" party and they went ape crap?

There are pages of this garbage.

Do you not recall the "Ic" factor, or as many around here referred to it, the "ICK" factor.

This link gives a history of the "offenses" the rats have endured.

Bailing out private business isn't listed.

100% "Spot On" correct. That is the very basis of a free market economy and I'm having a very difficult time as I sit here in my classroom trying to teach this concept of the FREE MARKET to my seniors when the government keeps interfering with the private sector. I just spent two weeks at the beginning of this second semester teaching them all about money. Starting with barter concepts moving through commodity money and eventually ending with legal tender laws, fractional reserve banking and The Creature From Jekyll Island: aka "THE FED."

When they see all this TARP and "stimulus" stuff floating across the news along with the President speaking of capping salaries and telling Joe the Plumber he intends to "spread the wealth around," it's pretty difficult to explain this: TINSTAAFL.

There
Is
No
Such
Thing
As
A
Free
Lunch!

TINSTAAFL? There are HOWLS of argument from my students who see the very thing every single day in their lives. Most of them have no incentive to leave the ghetto when their President is going to "DO" for them! That's the attitude I've seen since last November. A few though, see things otherwise. So I keep on "keeping on" to show these folks that the way out is through education and application of free market principles. That's how Bill Gates did it and continues to do accrue wealth. Gates is their HERO. Well, he's a hero to those in our Business magnet academy. The rest of the kids worship either the rappers, the sports figures or their neighborhood street pharmacist. ~SIGH~

Doesn’t the author mean “ardent opposition to ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION?”

Wouldn’t legislation that confiscates bonuses given to specific groups be a bill of attainder?

Just asking.

The way you describe Sarah Palin’s future
actions, “ she'll come through with flying
colors” is bizarre. How do you know that ?
Do you have some lame defense of why she
would endorse McCain ? Some of the Palin
fans have the myopic view that Obama followers
exhibit.

"He wasn't in Congress to pass the stimulus bill"

He voted for the Bush Stimulus.

The GOP tries to gloss over the record and talk like the Obama stimulus was the first stimulus.

And, in 2008, before the Bush stimulus money had been completley handed out, and before Obama had won the primary, Pelosi began agitating for a second stimulus, which would include highway money.

Some of the Palin fans have the myopic view that Obama followers exhibit.

I found that out last night. All I said was that the governorship would have provided an excellent stepping stone to being number one on the ticket and that she should have toughed it out. I sure got lambasted. I truly admire the woman and seriously defended her during the campaign. My husband knows I'm a big fan and bought me her book for my birthday. I think she was definitely the right person to run as VP at the time. But, by the time 2012 rolls around she will be known more as a Fox News pundit than a former governor. Four years is a long time.

Was it unconstitutional to give chrysler a loan in the 80s?

I did a search for "Chrysler" and "loan" and I do not see either within Section 8 of the US Constitution... if its not in the US Constitution, its not a power given to the Federal government.

The Federal government thinks that if its not in the US Constitution, that its fair game... thats backwards.

“The Federal government thinks that if its not in the US Constitution, that its fair game... thats backwards.”

I agree wholeheartedly.

If the founding document is silent as to the central government’s power, and if the power in question is not clearly implied or necessarily part and parcel of what has been expressly granted to it, the central government has no such power; such power is therefore reserved to the states (that is, the people).

McCain would be doing much the same as Obama but the MSM would be calling it “conservative!”
