I remember reading the word as a kid and thinking “how odd...it’s spelled corpse men but pronounced core men”. This wasn’t a mistake. He didn’t know. Which is logical. He’s the most parochial person elected to the oval office since...I dunno...maybe ever.

It’s time the job designation should be changed from “President” to “U.S. Spokesmodel.” At this point Barry is justed carted around with a van of teleprompter equipment and he just reads the text. The bills are crafted by the staff of clueless Senators like Baucus, Schumer, Dodd, Conyers, Frank, Reid etc. and Axelrod and Rahm push the Senators buttons. My sense is that Barry is slowly disappearing into a figurehead role, functioning as a Prince Charles-like figure, who just shows up for P.R. sessions.
Obama is a detestable fraud, and can’t possibly be an American if he can’t correctly pronounce a word like corpsman.
You’d think that the Commander in Chief, who holds the very lives of every US Marine, Soldier, Sailor, and Airman in his hands could at least properly pronounce this common military term.
Doesn’t he ever read? Has he never heard anyone else use the word before? And you’re telling me that he’s in charge of the entire freaking US military???
As another poster stated, Obama is missing the natural affinity for American culture, so he slips in many of his attempts to communicate with us. Yes, he sounds like an American, but his shocking failures to lock in at so many ordinary cultural connection points is telling.
Geeez..... I knew the proper pronunciation of the word corpsman before I was out of elementary school.

It's more than just embarrassing.
For the (alleged) CIC to NOT know how to pronounce corpsman means that this person does not know what a corpsman really does.
It means that he's never spent any time getting to know a THING about the military, it's functions, it's accomplishments, it's traditions, or it's sacrifices.
Here is a man who (apparently) has never seen a war movie, or who has never read books on the military (fiction or non).
I would bet that Mister Obama does not know the difference between a sergeant major and a major general, or between a Naval and a Marine Lieutenant, or what comprises a brigade, a division, a regiment, or a squadron.
He likely has no idea of the remarkably long hours and immense responsibilities that these fine men and women shoulder; and, how not knowing how (or what) a corpsman is, is an indelible "dis".

All modern presidents... including Roosevelt (asst Navy Scty), Truman (Army), Eisenhower (Army), Kennedy (Navy), Johnson (Army Res), Nixon (Navy), Carter (Navy), Reagan (Army), Bush the elder (Navy), Dubya, (USAF res, pilot)...excluding Clinton had at least some connection, if not experience in the military.
All, including Clinton, knew enough to pronounce the word "corpsman" correctly.
