The RNC continues to spin the successes of candidates like Mark Kirk (R-IL) as the same kind of revolutionary citizen uprising that took Massachusetts by storm. Even the news media are already framing Kirk's likely victory in November as a sequel to Scott Brown.

We should take it back
Not as long as they continue to pick winners and losers in GOP primary contests.
To make matters worse, they always choose the most liberal candidate, often to the left of the Democrat he will face in the general election, and single out the conservative with the grassroots support to destroy with attack ads paid for with party member contributions.
I for one, will support candidates through direct donations to their campaigns and will bypass the RNC, NRSC et al. If the local or state party runs RINOs and socialists, then the same action will be taken on a local level.
I live in Illinois, and Kirk will not be getting my vote. By my calculus, with two hard-left liberals (Kirk and Gianawhatever) splitting the liberal vote, the field is wide open now for a 3rd party conservative to walk in and win in a 3-way election. If we can avoid the shortcomings that came up in NY-23 (which was partly due to a compressed timeframe), this is doable. NY-23 was a similar situation, IMHO.
I support those who are fiscally conservative, follow the US Constitution as written and believe the government should stay out of social issues as much as possible.
Many of these people happen to belong to the GOP although others belong to third parties.
I have the right to support the candidate of my choice and those that disagree can jump off a cliff

The short answer is “NO.”
Here’s the long answer.
Over the years – when, to steal a line from Billy Joel, I wore a younger man’s clothes – I was involved with several pretty solid conservative candidates for Congress. One was a Democrat (Lawrence Patton McDonald) – because that was the only way he could win in that district. Those old-timers who know Larry’s record will tell you that he was a solid an anti-communist America Firster and more Republican than the pubbies in nearby districts at the time. (His mother’s cousin was General George Patton from whom he got the middle name – and his incredible resolve and love of this country.)
Those other candidates ran as Republicans. Because I was a rabid Bircher back then (still am philosophically!), those candidates had to pass my rigid litmus test or I went looking for someone who did. For that reason, I hooked up with what the TRADITIONAL country club pubbie establishment types believed were too radical for their refined tastes.
As those campaigns began to unfold and it became clear to the country clubbers that these guys 1) had a shot and 2) were pretty independent thinkers who would be hard to keep on the reservation once they got sworn in, the local pubbies communicated that information to the Republican National HQ types who rather quickly sent in campaign “professionals” ostensibly to lock up the impending victory.
Instead, in nearly every case to which I was privy, these “professionals” proceeded to TORPEDO our guy’s campaign in subtle but effective ways.
From that experience I can tell you that the pubbies at the HQ in D.C. would rather have a Democrat win a given district than have a pubbie up there who would embarrass them by refusing to follow the party line.
If YOU become involved in campaigns for solidly conservative, America and Constitution loving, hard-nosed, independent thinking candidates in 2010 and 2012 and beyond – and I pray many of you do — please DO NOT trust any of those folks from GOP HQ in Washington. If they suggest sending in one of their “professionals,” tell them to fuggetaboutit.

No. I’ve decided my contributions will go directly to candidates of my choice, and not just in national elections. FReepers from all over helped Scott Brown in Mass., and I plan on returning that in my small way with candidates I like and races that are key.
Forget the RNC. Tea partiers are DVDs and the RNC is Betamax. Something like that.

The RNC doesn’t support me, and hasn’t for a long time. I’ll support individual candidates who listen and who care about my opinions.

Kirk is an Illinois Arlen Specter. Period. He may well win the election in November, but I doubt the party base will be working terribly hard for him. Wouldn’t be able to tell this clown from a typical democrat anyway.
Conservatives need to control the RNC, and use it. At best, right now, the RNC is nothing but a weak link in the fight to keep America.
Should conservatives continue supporting the RNC?
No. So long as they keep shoving liberals down our throats, absolutely not.
Should conservatives take over the RNC, from within?
Yes. Join your Republican Town Committee and work your way up.
Will that work?
Yes, in about 10 years. But we don’t have 10 years to waste before the nation collapses into bankruptcy and socialism.
We might need to storm the GOP castle ... and quickly.
