WASHINGTON Americas top intelligence official told lawmakers on Tuesday that he was highly certain that Al Qaeda or one of its affiliates would attempt a large-scale attack on American soil within the next six months. The assessment by Dennis C. Blair, the director of national intelligence, was much starker than his view last year, when he emphasized the considerable progress in the campaign to debilitate Al Qaeda and said that the global economic meltdown, rather than the prospect of a major terrorist attack, was the primary near-term security concern of the United States.
Citing a recent wave of terrorist plots, including the failed Dec. 25 attempt to blow up an airliner as it approached Detroit, Mr. Blair and other intelligence officials told a Senate panel that Al Qaeda had adjusted its tactics to more effectively strike American targets domestically and abroad.
The biggest threat is not so much that we face an attack like 9/11, said Leon E. Panetta, the C.I.A. director. It is that Al Qaeda is adapting its methods in ways that oftentimes make it difficult to detect.

What do they want me to do?
My question is why Bambi is suddenly flooding the news media with this stuff.
We’ve always been under threat of a terrorist attack and in fact we have had several moderately successful ones since Bambi took office. Saying there will be one within 6 months means nothing.
So what’s going on here?
Oh, that's why.
He’s looking for a “trigger” to impose martial law to seal the deal about dictator for life—or as long as he lives. I’m serious, they’ve been panting for the next crisis coming down the pike to do this. So far, it just hasn’t quite been the crisis they’ve drummed up, but it’ll occur.
They probably hope to give Barry and his ‘RATS a bump in the polls. There’s nothing like a bunch of politicians standing on the steps of the Capitol singing “God Bless America” to bring the country together. If the Republicans win in November, the terrorists’ “I been tortured” whine goes right out the window. They know that.
I’d much rather have Sledgehammer than BHO.
I tell you what- Panetta seems like a good guy compared to a lot of the nimwits in the regime. HOPEfully, Obama will cool it with attacking the CIA for a while.
That’s possible. He’s definitely got something up his sleeve, because he’s never cared about terrorism before.
Notice they still omit the word “Islamic.”
It’s cause there was a hearing on Capitol Hill...
All tyrants identify an external demon to capture the attention of the masses. Hitler had the Jews and the draconian provisions of the WWI peace treaty. Stalin used the West. Fidel and Hugo use the United States.
Rahm may have finally decided that Al Queda will work as well as any to deflect attention from the domestic mess they are creating and provide cover for their attack on our Republic.
Thanks for the ping rdl6989.

OPINION:
Note: The global jihad never stops. It’s 24/7.
When a widow of opportunity is available to the jihadis (from the lone jihadi, jihadi cell, jihadi groups); they will take it.
However, they must know the there will be consequences to their actions (including “work accidents”).

BO rehabilitation for the 2012 election.
He wants us to think he saved us from disaster
(And that he really doesn’t hate America)
Simple solution --- Profile, Profile, Profile --- then Profile some more. Detection of potential terrorists isn't all that difficult, everyone knows that except PC liberals ....
What is the duct tape for?
Like most terrorist attacks, the intel agencies will know about them and not do one thing to stop them.
