49 percent approve is not so great when the entire media fawns over him.

You’ve got to work on your titles! Say “President” or 0bama...even the date. Including the date and the name will aid future searches, otherwise, search results on the title bring back ambiguous results.

It’s because people think health care is dead, and Barry is making like he’s bipartisan.

Most people don’t know who Alinsky was.

Populism works for a dolt like Bill Oreally....works fine for leftists too.

Cmon folks, the 50% of people who would approve of this guy in the first place have no observable principles. they will sway back and forth and will never completely reject this kind of demagogue on principle.

I think the result from Saturday (and put in on Sunday) was a huge outlier.

I hope that on Wednesday we will see it back in the -12 range.

But, maybe not. Maybe Obama scored some real points with his State of the Union.

Don't panic.

Obama just has his base pumped up a bit from his really lackluster (to us) State of the Union speech. All promises he can't keep. Trust me, those high numbers will dribble back down over time. The Strongly Disapprove of 39% is in the same range that he has been in for quite some time now so he is making no headway with OUR BASE. Keep the faith.

If the people were stupid enough to vote for him based on a hope and change slogan and his “brilliant” speeches, this should come as no surprise. Whenever he’s in trouble he makes some kind of major speech followed up by an appearance on Leno, Oprah.... or a college basketball game. He pops up on facebook ads constantly. He’s just one big obamamercial. Not worry. He can’t keep up the charade forever. obama and the rats are going down sooner or later.

The results are truly fascinating. Only one number has changed. (More in a moment.)

The overall approve-disapprove number has barely budged. The percent who strongly disapprove has barely budged.

But a significant percentage of voters who previously “approved” of Obama very suddenly “strongly approve.” The only explanation is SOTU, and the perception that he needs his base to rally around him.

It is unlikely that this will last long. What it really suggests to me is that even among those who support Obama it is very, very difficult to sustain any real enthusiasm over the longer term.

Although Rasmussen contends that much of this bump was caused by the SOTU, I disagree. Instead imho, most of it was caused by the RINO’s inviting Obama to appear at the GOP Congressional retreat, allowing to be televised at the last moment, Obama performing charismatically before a group of weak, effete, spineless RINO’s and then the MSM spin which made out that Obama was the master statesman and good guy seeking bipartisanship and the Republicans were the obstructionists and the bad guys in the drama.

Huge strategic error by the GOP Congressional leadership.

All the great work the GOP had done to depress Obama’s numbers now apparently has gone for naught.
