Rasmussen Daily: -4 (49A, 50D overall)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 2/1/10 | Rasmussen

Posted on 02/01/2010 6:50:29 AM PST by tatown

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 35% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. That’s the highest level of strong approval for the President in more than seven months and reflects a significant bounce following the State-of-the-Union address. Before the speech, just 27% voiced strong approval.

Thirty-nine percent (39%) now Strongly Disapprove down from 42% before the speech. Putting it all together gives Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -4. That’s the President’s best Approval Index rating in months. In fact, he’s earned a better rating on only two days in the past six months (see trends).

It’s caused by Obama sounding like he’s moving to the middle. That’s all it takes for some people to forget what he’s been doing the last year.

The issue is whether people still are angry at the Congress. Remember that Obama never authored a health care bill? Of course he would have signed anything they passed, but some people are, well, dumb.

As soon as the afterglow of the SOTU fades, so will the numbers.........

That is a sad commentary on the voting masses in this once great nation...truly pathetic!

Correct.

They also declared that they have saved the economy from certain doom by spending and blaming Bush. This “bounce” comes from Democrats who are out of work and believe every word the Marxist spews. His sudden “focus” on creating jobs rhetoric is just that; RHETORIC. His habit of blaming Bush for everything is also still extremely popular among Democrats and Independent/Populists of all kinds.

The ONLY way Government can “create” jobs is to cut taxes, reduce the size and scope of Government, deregulate private enterprise so that new business can start up at a direct advantage. Reward profits and expansion, as well as regulate/tax Attorneys and place strict limits on lawsuits.

What MaObama has planned for this economy will crush any hope of growth. Not only that, the latest budget numbers have yet to hit the news and they are sickening to say the least. It's only a matter of time before Skippy drops below -20%.

Could this have anything to do with the current meme being foisted by the press that Obama proved once and for all his superiority to Republicans in his recent GOP meet? Or was that meeting too recent to affect this poll?

He’s getting mileage from the decision to move the terror trial out of nyc. This is an issue that caused his sheeple to cringe- they didnt want it there either, for the most part.

He wants to appear to the masses as “reaching out” and knowing the GOP will reject all his overtures, he can then say that he tried and the mean, evil Republicans were blocking his efforts at reform. He doesn’t have to try any of their proposals, but they have to accept all of his................

The left has been pounding the beat of...Inherited this or that, party of no, etc. When I saw people interviewed after SOTU parroting these sound bites I knew this country is screwed by half of it’s own stupid, ignorant population.

...acknowledging that we need nuclear energy; and finally looking at offshore oil drilling.

Two comments on his "acceptance" of these issues. First, he killed the radioactive depositary at Yucca Mountain, so he isn't really changing his stance on nukes. And, second, I predict that any offshore oil drilling will have to be in the context of a "comprehensive" energy bill--i.e., basically cap and tax combined with EPA regulations implementing Copenhagen goals.

I think his ratings got at least as much a boost from the GOP conference appearance as the SOTU. I thought he did a terrific community organizer act with the GOP, whereas the SOTU was totally disjointed. I'm not saying I liked what he actually said, but I thought he was smooth and convincing to someone who hasn't been following him or understood the issues.

This guys is such a f'n liar!

Maybe it’s because he’s not doing anything. People don’t like him when he’s trying to push socialism. Giving speeches is fine, but please stay out of the White House.

That was Saturday and would not have made an affect on this poll. Some of you will criticize the Republicans for anything they do.

Whoever is responsible for that fiasco should be fired, drawn-and-quartered, and fired again. They may have saved the Bolshevik healthcare takeover.

The stupid party strikes again.

Maybe what it’s going to take to get this game on is for the rats to go nuclear and pass their crap. That will really turn people against them. The public backlash will be so great, they’ll have to reverse course just as they are in the process of doing with the KSM trials.

I think we will see a slight downturn after today’s budget release for FY 2011.

$1.6T running the largest deficit ever.
