Yes, more important things came out of President Barack Obama's State of the Union address on Wednesday (Jan. 27) night than what his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, was wearing.
Still, Chris Matthews has the attention-grabbing, out-of-context statement "I forgot he was black" covered.
And the American citizens are full of responses to his 70-minute speech that ranged from everything to the economy to health care, national security to getting rid of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
So, back to secondary things: What was Michelle wearing? A tasteful aubergine dress with three-quarter-length sleeves from designer Isaac Mizrahi. But not from his Target collection. |

Well, as I said, much was made of how “middle class” she was when she was campaigning regarding how she shopped off the rack, etc. I don’t begrudge her having designer clothes (if they are appropriate), just hate the media hypocrisy!

Kidz, kidz, kidz...aubergine? Eggplant? Plum?
I think not.
Might I suggest the color of the eve was SEIU purple. That’s right...with SanFranNan and Plugs in (darling!) matching lilic (think SEIU purple-lite).

I only saw this from the back last night, I thought it was sleeveless. The dress made her look really huge in the bottom from the back. The photos here aren’t so bad.

She has the worst posture of any First Lady in my memory.
Since she can't even fake a more regal bearing, let's just call it the Michelle Slouch.
I always want to put my knee between her shoulder blades, grab her shoulders.....and PULL.

Me too. Perhaps she has more class, or was charged more for something that is “Aubergine”
—maroon, wine or eggplant are “middle class terms”/sarc

I think she is very short waisted. I have noticed that before. And really, it could have been a lot worse. The dress is has simple lines and there is no boob belt. The color is fairly muted.

The skirt is rather elegant, but the top is a fancy long-sleeved T-shirt. I think that designer could have done better.
