Alito is a hero. Now let's go get that BIRTH CERTIFICATE!

Obama is such an arrogant fool. He's literally DARING the Supreme Court to take up the birth certificate/eligibility cases.

I have never in my life seen a president attack one of the other branches of government like this. And in such a high profile forum like the SOTU speech, of all places.

Unreal.

someone think of the right slogan and this would be the perfect time to launch a public pressure movement DEMANDING that Obambi/Biden release ALL donor records of 2008....

WE REPEAL IF YOU REVEAL

Show us your campaign finance records NOW, Obama!

well, Alito wasn’t on his side to begin with, but I doubt he’ll be giving the WH or SG the benefit of the doubt in any future cases.

The bigger impact is on Kennedy. He waffles more. I wonder how he’ll respond now that the President basically called him out on natl tv as an incompetent fool.

Say what you will about Kennedy but he arguably saved us from President Gore. I wouldn’t be surprised uf this draws him closer to the four conservatives.

His Hugo Chavez moment.

Exactly. The thuggish move of a Chicago thug dictator wannabe throwing his weight around, in a forum where the Supreme Court is helpless to defend itself (or so Obama thought!).

Notice also, he dissed the Congress itself, by saying he will issue executive order to bypass their refusal to set up deficit commission.

He's dissing Constitutional separation of powers, trying to consolidate power in executive branch (for himself).

What an arrogant asshole

You have insulted assholes everywhere, comparing them to that hijo de puta.

Expect to hear from their lawyers in the morning. :)

Pretty much just as arrogant were all those in the chamber who gave him a standing "zero" for dissing the Supreme Court, while they sat right in front of him.

“It was practically a coup against the one leg of government he does not control.”

That’s EXACTLY how I took this action by the Supreme Court myself.

What the Supreme Court did by overturning McCain-Feingold was “level the financial playing field for the presidential election in 2012. What the Supreme Court did was give the Republicans a blank check (they are the party of big business after all).

I just hope it’s enough to offset the “war chest of the world” that Obama will be pulling from in the next election!

Where on earth does a sitting President an ineligible usurper get off criticizing a SCOTUS decision in a State of the Union address?

Fixed it for you.

what was worse when he said that he was going to ask Congress to pay legislation essentially “overturning” the SCOTUS decision.

Looks like Oblunder got it wrong again:

From "The Corner" blog at National Review:

President Wrong on Citizens United Case

The president's statement is false.

The Court held that 2 U.S.C. Section 441a, which prohibits all corporate political spending, is unconstitutional. Foreign nationals, specifically defined to include foreign corporations, are prohibiting from making "a contribution or donation of money or ather thing of value, or to make an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in connection with a Federal, State or local election" under 2 U.S.C. Section 441e, which was not at issue in the case. Foreign corporations are also prohibited, under 2 U.S.C. 441e, from making any contribution or donation to any committee of any political party, and they prohibited from making any "expenditure, independent expenditure, or disbursement for an electioneering communication... ."

This is either blithering ignorance of the law, or demogoguery of the worst kind.

Bad manners. No American president has done so in a state of the union speech. I bet Alito won’t attend next year’s speech.

Obama stepped in it, because his claim about what the SC did was false. It shows a willfull ignorance, or stupidity.

The SC did not rule on the section of the campaign laws which prohibit foreign contributions, or foreign company contributions. So Obama’s claim that the SC legalized them was wrong (not true), and for a supposed “constitutional professor” to not understand the basic points of a critical SC ruling is stupid.

Someone vetting the speech should have fixed that for him. But this entire administration doesn’t seem to care at all about the truth.

Obama’s conclusion on what the SCOTUS ultimately said in the Citizens United case was flat wrong, and truly a lie. Justice Alito was completely justified to mouth what he did. I would have loved to have seen Scalia’s reaction, considering he is currently the good housekeeping seal of approval these days. Trust me when I say this, or listen to the oral arguments from the case at www.supremecourtus.gov, or cspan.com, but Scalia was the leader in the battle to overturn McCain-Feingold. The only reason Kennedy wrote the opinion was because he was the swing vote, or else it would have been Scalia.
