Berry recounted meetings with White House officials, reminiscent of some during the Clinton days, where he and others urged them not to force Blue Dogs off into that swamp of supporting bills that would be unpopular with voters back home.
Ive been doing that with this White House, and they just dont seem to give it any credibility at all, Berry said. They just kept telling us how good it was going to be. The president himself, when that was brought up in one group, said, Well, the big difference here and in 94 was youve got me. Were going to see how much difference that makes now. [snip]
I began to preach last January that we had already seen this movie and we didnt want to see it again because we know how it comes out, said Arkansas 1st District congressman, who worked in the Clinton administration before being elected to the House in 1996... "I just began to have flashbacks to 1993 and 94. No one that was here in 94, or at the day after the election felt like. It certainly wasnt a good feeling.

Can't wait for the SOTU speech on Wednesday to see the new 'populist' Obama. The man may be the best thing for the Republican brand since Jimmy Carter.

True.
But first Republicans themselves must seize, define and expound on the conservative-across-the-board brand, THEMSELVES.

I really thought this was a fake article. Some of things this guy says, makes it hard to distinguish between what is real and what is a joke.

That worked so well in Cohenhagen.
That worked so well in Virginia.
That worked so well in New Jersey.
That worked so well in Massachusetts.

There’s a big difference all right.
Obama is a big nothing.
As in zero, nada.
His head contains nature’s most complete vacuum.
Even quantum particles refuse to appear and disappear in that vast area of nothingness, vapidness, and stupidness.

Right.
Several Republican senators, including Reach-across-the-aisle McCain, just this weekend have been espousing compromise and a new comprehensive health bill, etc. They just don't seem to learn.

The man may be the best thing for the Republican brand since Jimmy Carter. Well stated!
All of us should write the WH and encourage Obama to go whole hog after this. If we do, then what just happened in Mass. will be peanuts compared to November
