What is the TRUE starting time of the NFL games today?!? [INFURIATING!!!]
nfl.com, cbs.com, fox.com, google news, etc etc etc ^
Posted on 01/24/2010 10:32:20 AM PST by Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo
I have checked almost every news outlet on the web - to include Google News, Yahoo Answers, CBS.com, FOX.com, even NFL.com itself - and NONE of them will tell me the true starting times of the games today.
I know that they do this to try to maximize their Nielsen ratings for as long a time period as possible, but the level of deceit, duplicity, disingenousness and societal thought control in this unified front of media dishonesty is absolutely infuriating to me.
For instance, look at this screen capture from nfl.com:
Notice anything missing? Like the starting times of today's games?!?
From massive googling, I am led to believe that CBS's coverage of the Jets-Colts game today MIGHT start at around 3:00PM, but if I tune in at 3:00PM [or set the DVR to start recording at 3:00PM], then will the kickoff be within the next five minutes, or am I going to be subjected to 45 minutes of mindless, idiotic, sychophantic blather, and crass, disgusting, materialistic commercials before the players actually take the field?
God, this is infuriating.

The first pitch is sometime around 3pm, after they get the Zambonis off the green and Beckham sings God Save the Queen.

These MSM people know the answer, but they are unified in their conspiracy to withhold the answer from us. Wow, a unified conspiracy !!!
Dude, whatever medication you are taken, double up.

They want you to watch an hour plus of commercials before the kickoff actually happens.
Its deliberate.

Too bad about Bret Favre, though. Who'd have thunk it? Have they figured out how he faked being a man for so long?

Game one starts at 1500 hours EST and game two begins at 1830 hours EST. Nothing could be simpler...

Have always used Echo4s rule set out upthread. End of schedule less 3:05hrs (just in case).
And you wonder why the American public never heard of William Ayers before Tuesday, November 4, 2008?
Because it wasnt paying attention?
Our enemy is U.S. imperialism, the enemy of all humankind,

Enjoy the games! {:^)

The listings in my local paper as well as all the ads for the upcoming games have had the times posted. Perhaps you are just a bit behind

Note that the NFL builds in about 30 minutes of extra time between playoff games due to the possibility of extended sudden-death overtime in the event of a tie . . . so if Game #2 starts at 6:30 I'd venture to guess that Game #1 starts at 3:00.
Having said that, I'd point out that the general premise of the original post on this thread is correct. How hard is it for the NFL to announce the kickoff times for these games??

"Do you guys honestly think the kickoff will be at 3:00PM? And not 3:45PM?"
Given that the coverage is scheduled to end at 6:30, I assume that the kickoff will not be much beyond 3:00. Perhaps 3:30 at the latest.

Kick off is traditionally about 5 minutes after “start”, nothing duplicitous about it. All sports start their game about 5 minutes after the TV listed start time, and it’s been that way for at least 30 years. Shouldn’t get worked up about it, they want to give everybody a chance to tune in and sit down.

The NFL is too commercial, too much spectacle. I’m afraid the NFL is too much like a bubble, with ever-inflating prices and costs, which are leaving the common-man behind.
