Right-Wing Flame War!
By JONATHAN DEE
Published: January 21, 2010
Charles Johnson has been writing a blog for almost as long as the word blog has existed. A bearish, gentle-voiced, ponytailed man who for three decades enjoyed a successful career as a jazz guitarist accompanying the likes of Al Jarreau and Stanley Clarke, Johnson has always had a geeks penchant for self-education, and in that spirit he cultivated a side interest, and ultimately an expertise, in writing computer code. His Web log, which he named Little Green Footballs (a private joke whose derivation he has always refused to divulge), was begun in February 2001 mostly as a way to share advice and information with fellow code jockeys his approach was similar in outlook, if vastly larger in its reach, to the guiding spirit in the days of ham radio. His final post on Sept. 10, 2001, was titled Placement of Web Page Elements. It read, in its entirety: Heres a well-executed academic study of where users expect things to be on a typical Web page. It linked to, well, exactly what it said. The post attracted one comment, which read, in its entirety, Fantastic article.
The next 24 hours would transform his blog and, ultimately, his career. I grew up in Hawaii, Johnson told me recently when we met in his Los Angeles home, but I was born in New York. After I moved away at age 10, I would read the news stories about how the World Trade Center towers were getting closer to finishing. When they were attacked that day, that really hit home for me in a way that reached back into my childhood.

There is some dispute, even today, as to who was the first to expose the fraud behind the so-called Killian documents, ...
No there's not. It was our very own Buckhead in an exchange with Howlin.

Still, if you read L.G.F. today, you will find it hard to miss the paradox that a site whose origins, and whose greatest crisis, were rooted in opposition to totalitarianism now reads at times like a blog version of Animal Farm.
Yup. LGF and Johnson got their fame covering Islamic radicalism in the wake of 9/11. I looked in on LGF after a couple of years recently. Johnson's blog seems to have devolved into something far more trivial - it's devoted almost entirely to Johnson's personal dislikes and pet peeves, and he doles out information on these subjects to a handful of adoring commentators who are careful to agree with whatever he says.
Maybe Johnson's blog always was an exercise in navel-gazing - maybe Islamic terrorism was once the personal peeve Johnson most cared about when it was also an issue of great concern to people interested in finding out about the issue. In any event, Johnson's concerns have turned to more petty matters, he is careful to stamp out dissenting voices and interesting arguments, and his blog has shrunken in relevance.

The article mentions a female fiance. I don’t know, he absolutely is capable of a hissy fit! Could be.

What is funny is that LGF's Johnson claims he has not been banning long term members wholesale as well as anyone who has the temerity not to agree with him. Example:
"...to claim that their LGF accounts were blocked simply for disagreeing with me a claim which, in the vast majority of cases, is simply not true."
The reality is this:
What a joke.
Johnson apparently gets his kicks banning people who he disagrees with and it does not take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Look at most of this threads, you will see 'deleted' as well him bragging that the member had been 'flounced'.
This guy was banned for pointing out that Charles was wrong about who attacked who - his punishment? Instant Ban.
Another example:
What happens when someone posts an opinion contrary to Charles Johnson?
You are censored and unwelcome.
Why is Charles Johnson acting like a douche? Perhaps this explains it? No more money.
What about Johnson's self publicized divorce from the 'right wing'? Again, he appears to have a truth problem because he contradicted himself about his real position earlier. I bet that post was scrubbed too. Don't worry I have plenty examples of his hypocrisy.
I know you are probably reading this thread Charles, I doubt you will address this hypocrisy on your website, for that is why you have no honor nor integrity IMHO.

What a pathetic attempt to glorifying Johnson for his switch.

Unlike the puff pieces in the LA Times and "Vanity Fair," the
New York Times piece on the moronic turncoat is suprisingly balanced.
And in case anyone here wants to weep over the balanced handing Charles Johnson gets from the New York Times, do I need to remind you freepers of how he tried to smear Jim Robinson?
Schucky Johnson tried to have it both ways: accusing Jim Robinson of advocating massive violence "wink wink" while quoting Jim Robinson's words directly where Mr. Robinson says the opposite.
Wink wink....

As someone who has not tuned in to LGF in a while, I can’t say if he has taken to whacking off heads.
I can say the floor got pretty bloody around here for a while. Peaches and Howlin and then the whole Ron Paul crew and then just damn near anyone who the hatchet squad took a dislike to, it seemed.

CJ is a loser, his site’s readership has been trending down for a long while. The only reason the NY Times devoted space to him is because he’s a lefty blogger. FR has ten times the number of unique visitors, but you don’t see a NY Times profile on JimRob.
