Rep. Parker Griffith, the Alabama Republican who recently crossed over from the Democratic Party, is facing a mini-revolt from some home-state GOP officials who question his loyalty to his newly adopted party.

The local Republican operations for two counties inside Griffith's 5th District passed a set of resolutions in the past week urging Republicans to elect anyone but Griffith in the state's June primary.

Could this be a case of Arlen Specteritis?
I don’t know enough about him to make a judgement.

Deep six this new RINO in the Primary——replace him with a true youngblood conservative. Give Les Phillip a chance at it.

I don’t see how a lifelong Democrat (if that’s what he was) suddenly turned Republican can possibly win in the primaries. Let him vote the right way for now (by opposing Pelosi in everything) and then let the primaries decide.

Reagan was a lifelong rat, twice president of his union, admirer of FDR until he switched parties.

I don’t live his Griffith’s district, but I think it’s common knowledge in Alabama that he took a page out of Specter’s playbook and switched parties so that re-election would be easier

Yes Reagan switched parties, but remember that a democrat back then was a far cry from the socialist progressives of today. It was not such a big leap in those days.

"Reagan was a lifelong rat, twice president of his union, admirer of FDR until he switched parties."

Reagan was nominated for president almost 20 years after switching parties, and his entire elected political career was as a Republican. Quite different from this 'rat from Alabama.

Oppose them in the primaries but at least wait to see if a few other RATS switch first. I’d hate to discourage RATS from ripping themselves apart.

“I believe our nation is at a crossroads and I can no longer align myself with a party that continues to pursue legislation that is bad for our country, hurts our economy and drives us further and further into debt.”

“Unfortunately there are those in the Democratic Leadership that continue to push an agenda focused on massive new spending, tax increases, bailouts and a health care bill that is bad for our healthcare system. I have always considered myself to be an independent voice and I have tried to be that voice in Congress – but after watching this agenda firsthand I now believe that the differences in the two parties could not be more clear and that for me to be true to my core beliefs and values I must align myself with the Republican party and speak out clearly on these issues.” - Parker Griffith, M.D.

This is a blue dog that has finally snapped. He is a DINO in a DINO district. He will be re-elected even if the GOP turns him away.

IMO it would depend largely on his past voting record. He could be another Sphincter,in that he’s afraid of the RAT primary.Given that Sphincter voted RAT 99% of the time,if this guy voted Republican the majority of the time he could be legit. We’re talking Alabama, after all....not Minnesota/Illinois/Vermont.

i find it suspicious that anyone from the DEM are moving over to the GOP now. It suggest they’re more self serving becausing politica tide has changed. They should’ve known, growing adults, how left wing OBama is, long before now

This include Liberman. He should be voted our of the primary if he join the GOP

With Obama leadership taking the Democratic party to the extreme left, there is no longer room for a conservative Democrat in congress. Bud Cramer saw it coming and Parker Griffith experienced the shift when trying to work as a conservative in Washington. While a Democrat, he offered to give Nancy Peloci a gift certificate to a mental health facility. I have not seen him described as what he is, an INCUMBANT Republican member of Congress. He should receive some nice committee assignments as a reward for his switch. If you missed it, this was on Fox and Friends: http://clips.shadowtv.net/media/stv/3343/10/2010/021/06/3343_10_20100121_064641_230.wmv

That is not the case. Griffith was only elected this year and does not have the kind of hold on the district that longtime conservative Dems have elsewhere. If he had remained a Democrat he would have lost, one and done.

Ideologically, Griffith is probably like a lot of other politicians - enough flexibility of belief to endorse universal health care and support Nancy Pelosi one month and then oppose Obamacare and national Democrats a few months later in order to save his skin.

Local Republicans could do worse than Griffith, but they could very likely to better.
