It looks like America, teetering as it was on the brink of a 'kinder, gentler' tyranny, has pulled back.
Between the shocking election of Scott Brown in ploddingly-liberal Massachusettes, the overturning of much of McCain-Feingold's ban on election advertisements prior to elections, and the Russian disclosure that the Global Warming hoaxers were making up data, America emerged from this rather close call with a new direction. It appears that direction -- much to the consernation and dismay of the President and much of Congress -- is back to freedom.
What made this possible? What forces drove back the blitzkreig of Government, Regulation, and Suppression?
In a word: Information.
Information turned the tide. Information about the HellCare dealings was crucial. We found out, through media sources other than the State Organs of Propaganda -- CBS, NBC, ABC, LA Times, New York Times, and so on -- that Hell Care Reform had in it an individual mandate to purchase insurance or be fined. An individual mandate, on citizens! Unfunded, like the many unfunded state mandates! That was truly breathtaking.
We found out, through media sources other than the State Organs of Propaganda, that Hell Care cut Medicaid. We found out that while Hell Care allowed you to keep your current insurance, the act of changing a job would force you to switch to their new plan. We found out that people who had good plans would get taxed for them. We found out that while taxes would be paid for years, no benefits would be paid out until years after that.
We found out that certain Senators got bribed, outright, with our money to vote for this plan -- such as the dodgy Sen. Ben Nelson.
The American people were paying attention, too. It was more than a little amazing to see them rise, in such numbers, in one of the most liberal states of the Union and lay fallow the plans of the Democrats to impose Hell Care on us.
Information flowed freely, too, on the Global Warming hoax, after hackers delivered to the internet-at-large copious reams of emails from some of the key players in the hoax. Their emails showed that they were purposely playing fast and loose with the scientific data -- and then when challenged, admitted that they discarded the original data from which their fraud was derived! This goes against every scientific method ever taught.
This fraud is what was to propel the cap-and-trade legislation, who's ultimate purpose was to make energy more costly, and to achieve a greater Central Planning role for the government in the allocation of energy.
It is thought that the hackers that got the emails and released them were from Russia, which made this author ponder: How ironic it is, that Russia saved us from Communism.
Information will flow more freely, now that McCain-Feingold has been overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States. It was always a little odd that the First Amendment was thought to apply to pornography and offensive speech, but NOT to the free expression of political views -- as McCain-Feingold was intended to suppress.
I have hope for America, so long as information flows freely. It turns out we do pay attention, and that we do act to rein in reckless and out of touch lawmakers. It turns out that we wish to preserve our freedom and the capitalist economy that made us so materially wealthy.
And you wrote it on my birthday! Sweet!
Hey, lookit what the boy’s been up to...Sez he’s trying “serious” for a change.
Pretty good, Laz. I like it.
It has been a thing of wonder this year to discover how many Americans understand and value freedom.
“Hold on a second, theres a fat head blocking my view.
Nah, you just have really excited hair.
No, your hat must be really thick.
Uh, no hablo ingles
No, I just have my eyes set to widescreen mode.
Youre just festive!
That depends do I look stupid?
Possibly add as a subcategory, the genius of the youtube productions and the technology that enabled them to go viral, If a picture is worth a thousand words, multiply that by 24 frames a second . . .
Without it, we're back to relying on govmedia and thus...screwed.
Thanks for the ping!
Prayers up for Laz! Obviously his account has been hacked. He may have been abducted by aliens! They may be performing... experiments... on him!
Seriously, good read Laz. Thanks!
"...to propel the cap-and-trade legislation..."
I always thought cap and trade was "Captain Trade." LOL!
Thank you, Cyber, for pinging me to Laz's dissertation. We need more of it!
Excellent post.
And true.
With the SCOTUS ruling on campaign donations by corportations, Justice Kennedy wrote VERY specific language about not abridging free speech.
It is my hope that this decision will come in handy should the FCC continue on their looney effort for ‘net neutrality’ and ‘diversity’ horseshite.
Justice Kennedy isn't the coolest kid on the block to we who are conservatives, but it looks like everyone suddenly decided to take the Constitution a little more seriously with the Massachusettes Revolution. :)
So when's our three-way?
Will do and THANGOO!
If I show you my really big....... words..... will you show me your hot sweet li’l...... replies?
We’ve been keeping the guest room open for you. Just say when and we’ll chase the animals out.
We even have a drawer full of shampoo & soap we swiped from the Holiday Inns.
Oh, there’s a fresh roll of duct tape in there, too....
Lemon-scented duct tape, of course. :)
The Cyber household stands ready for any eventuality. Unfortunately, we used the sheet plastic to kill the weeds in the garden.
