PORT-AU-PRINCE, Jan 21 (Reuters) - A child squats to defecate yards away from a sidewalk where women press plantain into bite-sized pieces for frying and a naked toddler plays with a pile of rice on the filthy ground.
Nearby, a dead body has been dumped on the street, right in front of a sea of morose people sitting on grubby mattresses, and a garbage collector uses a shovel to scoop up soggy black mounds of putrid trash composed of plastic water bags, polystyrene plates, orange peel and tin cans. Stray dogs forage.
Sanitary conditions in tent cities like this one in Port-au-Prince's once elegant Champs de Mars park around Haiti's crumbled presidential palace are worsening by the day as hundreds of thousands of survivors of last week's earthquake cram together to eat, sleep, wash and defecate.
"It's miserable here. It's dirty and it's boring. There's nothing to do but walk about," said Judeline Pierre-Rose, 12, who misses her comfortable home with its couch and TV.
"People go to the toilet everywhere here and I'm scared of getting sick. My twin sisters vomited last night," she said.

As families settle in after nine days camped out -- preparing food on the dirty ground, cooking on charcoal fires and walking about in flip-flops through toxic dark gray puddles, nobody is doing anything about hygiene.
"It's up to the government to resolve this kind of problem, they must take responsibility and tell us what to do," said Wesnel. Then he added: "Maybe they are in the middle of working out a plan."

If Haiti is like any other island, away from the port cities, there is open land, clean, with food growing wild. Get these people out of the destroyed city instead of importing millions more with the ‘I’m bored attitude’!

To paraphrase your namesake, their souls have been amputated. When people are groomed their entire lives to follow, there is no initiative or leadership to be found amongst them. It truly is heartbreaking, and whether or not one believes in voodoo, the Haitian government has truly turned these people into zombies waiting for the next scrap to fall from the table.
BTW, Matthew Bracken (AKA Travis McGee) in his thriller "Foreign Enemies and Traitors" describes the aftermath of major earthquakes in this country. It is an exciting read.

Why then is the ANC government wanting to align itself with an occultic tyrant and a regime dedicated to Satan?
i believe that the government uses the idea of Satan to govern the black population. it is their native position and counters the white GOD’s. So it is their bais belief. Now what they believe Satan is is another whole subject.
Didn’t God know what he was going to do and what was going to happen, when He created satan?

Not sure if you're Christian or not, but the word for such a position is "heresy."
I'm not trying to put you down or judge you, just offering an objective observation in response to your rather brusque proclaimation.
I accept all that as possible, even a fully truthful testimony. People fool themselves and others — worship of idols like a ‘satan’ — is certainly one such established method. Use of violence, dedication to degrading and profane rituals, all part of it.
