Massachusetts vote: Barack Obama admits mistakes after loss

President Barack Obama has admitted that he had lost touch with the American people because he was too absorbed by policy-making in his first year.

After a stunning Republican election win shifted the balance of power in Washington, there were suggestions the president may be contemplating a stripped-down version of the mammoth health care bill, to salvage his bid for a historic achievement that has defied a string of previous presidents.

The bloated draft legislation was a major reason for the success of Scott Brown in the late Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy's old seat on Tuesday night.

As he absorbed the stinging blow from voters, which sent shock waves through the Democratic Party, Mr Obama admitted that his need to tackle a flurry of crises had weakened his bond with voters.

"If there's one thing that I regret this year is that we were so busy just getting stuff done and dealing with the immediate crises that were in front of us that I think we lost some of that sense of speaking directly to the American people," Mr Obama told ABC News.

The president said that he had assumed that if he concentrated on making good policy decisions, voters would understand them, but instead they had become consumed by a "feeling of remoteness and detachment" from Washington.

"That I do think is a mistake of mine," Mr Obama said, diagnosing a mood of anger and frustration in the United States over the grinding and lingering impact of the worst recession for decades.

His admission was a far cry from the euphoria of his inauguration a year ago, which drew a crowd of several million people, and the nationwide feeling of hope and change sparked by his 2008 election victory.

The special election upset in liberal Massachusetts was seen

So, his mistake was trusting that U.S. citizens would be smart enough to appreciate all the good stuff he's doing. LOL!

Was there even a single day when he was not on TV?

Too many of these losers have been saying they "lost touch" with the American people. You have to be connected before you can loose touch. BO has never been connected.

We've been up close in their faces and they all have ignored us, rideculed us, called us names such as terrorists and teabaggers, put us on watch lists, etc. They have steam rolled over us and our wishes. Now they are surprised at the reaction.

Mr Obama -

Go sell your junk in Illinois. It doesn’t work in the other 56 states.

What a narcissistic liar. He and his cronies spent the entire year trying to figure out how to obfuscate, thwart, and ultimately by-pass the will of the people, and now he's finally discovered who's the real boss.

So,according to the head- narcissist- in- charge, his mistake was in not letting everyone know how wonderful he was.

But he did still manage to blame the outcome in Massachusetts on the Bush administration (that’s why the voters were mad).

Obama was probably on TV speaking to the American people more often in his first year than Nixon was in his entire 5 and a half years as President, and Nixon was accused of overdoing it. People got so tired of seeing him on TV lecturing them that they automatically changed the channel.

Barack on truth serum.

Yes, people of the world. I should never have been elected President of the United States. First of all, I was not really born in America. I am a total fake. Now, I do have a lot of friends who do my bidding and cover my behind, but seriously, when I was a member of the Senate, I can't remember making any meaningful contributions. How I got the slight majority of democrats to vote for me to be president was either dumb luck or my magic beans.

Now that I no longer have a super majority in order to make it as easy as possible for me to get anything I want passed by both Houses of Congress, I will admit defeat and resign as president and realize my lifelong dream of entering Clown College.
