The World Bids Farewell To Obama

Charles Hawley
Jan. 21, 2010, 9:32 AM

US President Barack Obama suffered a painful defeat in Massachusetts on Tuesday. With mid-term elections looming, it means that Obama will have to fundamentally re-think his political course. German commentators say it is the end of hope.

US President Barack Obama has had a number of difficult weeks during his first year in the White House. Right after he took office, he had to wade through a week full of partisan bickering over his economic stimulus package combined with a tax scandal surrounding Tom Daschle, the man Obama had hoped would lead his health care reform team. Then there was the last week of 2009, when a failed terror attack on a flight inbound for Detroit exposed major flaws in US efforts to identify and stop potential terrorists.

This week, though -- a week when Obama should have been celebrating the first anniversary of his inauguration -- may have been the president's worst yet.

If it’s President Bush’s fault, than this is Bush’s win. Congrats W for such a good swing at the Kennedys. Kennedy Compound, indeed.

Since the last war, Germany has had more economic sense than the rest of Europe. So you’d think they’d be a bit less delusional than this.

Obama has saved the banks, saved the car industry, saved the world, and now he wants to save healthcare, but the American people don’t appreciate his enormous accomplishments?

Obama has tried to work with everyone and be a bipartisan leader, but now he might have to stop being so nice to the opposition and turn partisan?

What planet do these guys live on?

"His reform agenda, in its current form, is highly suspect to Americans. And they have the impression that, if he continues piling up debt, he will be gambling away the country's future."

No. They have the convinction that, if he continues piling up debt, he will be throwing away the country's future--and destroying the United States--terminating "The American Experiment"--and ending "The American Dream."

"For everyone else in the world, this means that they will have to bid farewell to a candidate for whom the hopes were so high. They will have to say goodbye to the charisma they fell in love with."

If "everyone else in the world" considers falling in love with charisma to be adequate reason for choosing a political leader--then "everyone else in the world" is a fool!

And this from Germany--of all places--who should know--if anyone does--the danger of choosing a political leader because of dazzling charisma!

Yes--the Germans have fallen in love with charisma before!

Considering this stark example of history--"everone else in the world" should be profoundly grateful for the Americans who value sobriety and clarity and the careful evaluation of substance and meaning in choosing political leaders and refuse to fall in love with--and therefore be distracted by--"charisma (which certainly does not include all Americans).

In a dangerous world--a world so dangerous as this--clarity and sobriety are to be valued all the more!

The people of the world had better be grateful--and had better begin to choose sobriety and clarity in evaluating their leaders rather than dazzling "charisma"!

Clear-thinking, sober people have to make up for the fools who fall in love with charisma!

If Obama were as popular as Europe thinks he is, one GOP Senator wouldn’t be able to derail his whole agenda. True leaders do not require a supermajority to get things done — Ronald Reagan

Wow! Ronald Reagan said that???

Hey, since all his wildly unnecessary and anti-American policies are failing, Barack Hussein finally has time to eat his pancakes!

Goodie for him. Best to stay out of the limelight and off TV and let the will of the People prevail.

It always works BEST that way.

Yeah, wasn’t that something? Sarah Palin told her Facebook fans to vote for Scott Brown, and Scott Brown WON! Amazing!

RE :”Yeah, wasn’t that something? Sarah Palin told her Facebook fans to vote for Scott Brown, and Scott Brown WON! Amazing!

Those that deny that it was Sarah's message that won the MA Coakley/Brown senate race are 'Palin tidal wave' deniers, and are either liberal trolls or Romneybots! Only one force could have got the liberals in MA to elect Brown, Sarah!

PSSSS : I am getting good at this!

The caption to the picture of Obama reads, “US President Barack Obama has had a difficult first year.”

America has had a very difficult year BECAUSE of Obama’s lunacy.

I just keep thinking that the Brown victory would serve as a wake up call to anyone with half a brain! SOMEONE in his inner circle must be savvy enough to see that he has to change course and move to the center. Of course, it will be just for reelection purposes...
Question will be whether or not the First Failure understands how bad things are for him. Hopefully, he is such an egotist that even if Deadfish and Axelnuts show him the way, he just wont’ do it on “principle”..ie Chicago Thugocracy 101.
