Palin to Campaign for McCain in March
CNN ^ | January 20, 2010 | Peter Hamby

Washington (CNN) – As Sen. John McCain readies for a potential primary challenge from the right this fall, the Arizona Republican is playing his trump card.

Sarah Palin, McCain's former running mate and perhaps the most powerful brand in Republican politics, will stump for McCain in Arizona on March 26 and 27, a Palin adviser told CNN. The presence of Palin - and the considerable crowds and media attention she will draw - might give pause to J.D. Hayworth, the former Republican congressman and radio host who opposes McCain's position on illegal immigration and is mulling a Senate run of his own.

What would you do if people talked about your kids, spouse, integrity etc? LIke they’ve done to her. She’s got more self control than I do.

A big mistake by Palin but not unexpected.

Okay, one black mark against Sarah.

Two black marks. This is the second time she’s campaigning for McCain.

The lost the first time, hopefully they’ll lose again.

Your point is well taken.

I like JD Hayworth and hope he challenges the old coot.

Being from Pennsylvania, I’m seeing shades of Rick Santorum and his support of Arlen the Sphincter. Was disastrous for Rick...

Maybe her way to get on the side of the establishment for a 2012 run when McCain would be too old and in depends.

Sorry to hear that. We need to convey our message to Sarah that McCain’s time is over. We need someone with fresh conservative ideas, like JD Hayworth, though he hasn’t announced his candidacy.

I like Sarah Palin as much as you like Scott Brown.

How about a purist? Will that hurt your delicate sensibilities?

Did you support her when she was McCain’s VP?

You don’t know that. He has become more conservative since Obama became president. Sarah is close to him so she should know if he is really becoming more conservative.

Nope, I don't know that.

I don't know that the sun will rise tomorrow. I just assume that it will based upon past experiences.

All Republicans “become” more Conservative when an election draws near. Afterwards, they revert back to their previous RINO form. Rick Perry and Kay Bailey are doing the same thing in Texas.

As a voice of reason in a potential Queeg administration, against the most dangerous Democrat candidate in my lifetime, absolutely.

This is different. Entirely different.

I agree. I am disappointed in Palin. This will hurt her politically. McCain is toxic - he ran to prevent a GOP victory for POTUS. He did as well as he did only because of Palin.

Although people do change their views - and I like to give them the benefit of doubt, I do not believe McCain's suddenly turning more conservative. His views on immigration and love of illegal aliens - and here is no indication these have changed - are reason enough to challenge him in the primary.

Besides, do you know if Hayworth has done anything to reach out to her? Is he still “thinking about it”? I know we all want conservatives elected, but we must step up to the plate.

Thank you. Look, I hope that someone defeats John McCain. The man has no love for conservatives and I have to say that I am disappointed that Sarah agreed to campaign for this RINO. But I admire her loyalty, even if I believe it is misplaced.

Having said that, it sounds like J.D. Hayworth hasn't even decided to get in the race, even BEFORE this announcement by Sarah. He's beginning to sound like Fred Thompson; lots of people wanted him to run and when he finally did, he didn't have that "fire in his belly" and his campaign fizzled.
