Really, there's precious little fairness in the world. People tend to be slaves to emotion, and prejudices often reign supreme, even (in fact, especially) in those who rail against prejudice. This is why we'll see millions of Americans reflexively dismiss a politician simply because of the letter following his name. It is why people will often oppose a position they would otherwise support simply because it's being advocated by someone they dislike. Ah, that troublesome human nature.
This brings us to Sarah Palin, the Wasilla woman often billed as the best hope of the GOP. She certainly isn't one of those plain vanilla characters who inspire blasé reactions, that's for sure. It's just so often the case that people either love her or hate her, believe she is the cat's meow or the pig with lipstick, a political sensation or a puerile simpleton. I'm in neither camp.
Scrape away the emotionalism, and one realizes that Palin isn't at either extreme. Underestimated by the left and overestimated by the right, the truth about her lies somewhere in between. Where, exactly? That is secondary, because there is a more important point here relating to Palin's political future.
She doesn't have one.
I know this will raise the hackles of many, but you can forget Sarah Palin. I say this not because of her defects in ideology or lack of competency, but for a very simple reason: She has been Quayled.
Many of you know that I'm referring to what ensued after former Vice President Dan Quayle gave a public appearance at a school spelling bee in Trenton, New Jersey in 1992.

LOL!!
Sure thing. Guv Palin has sold 2.8 million books, and added a million viewers to both BOR and Glenn Beck last week.
The mainstream media is terrified of her. And dems can’t stop thinking about her.
Now this.
Watch the fun, once Brown wins in Mass. This is the beginning of the turnaround.
Quayle was right, and so is Palin. The point of the article is that Quayle’s political career was finished after he was pegged as a dunce. It was unfair, but it is what it is. The same thing has happened with Palin. She is a great conservative cultural figure, but she isn’t going to be a politician outside of Alaska.
Selwyn Duke, Selwyn Duke ... nope, I’ve forgotten where I heard that name ... no desire to reacquaint.
It’s always a good idea to let your opponents choose your starting quarterback.
Same here.
And “American Thinker” is one of the best conservative sites out there too.
Where the heck did they put their thinking caps this time?
Sad.
I think you need to be prepared to support a different candidate besides Sarah Palin in 2012. I don’t think she’ll run.
Mitt?
Is that you?
(seriously, you’re clearly advancing Mitt)
It’s not like, it’s not obvious to everyone reading.
If Sarah isn't damaged goods yet, she will be soon enough.
Bob j is now on the payroll at American thinker now huh? Quayle was never an political executive, was vp under a one term president, and had an alcoholic wife. Palin has none of this baggage.
That was then. This is now.Facebook.Cable news.Lie debunking websites.
Unlike the passive Quayle republican functionaries of that era, Palin is not intimidated by the left/ media hive.
She fights back and wins over people who watch and listen to her.
This woman was the captain of her girls state basketball championship team-she ain’t a hot house flower.
In case she doesn’t run, I have a few in mind, DeMint for one. I think he is great, and Scott Brown, something about him makes me think he is Presidential material as well. People bash on Quayle, he was a great vice president, and he has been making the rounds of Fox News lately, maybe he’s considering a run
Sarah Palin is about to completely change the Republican Party, whether the left, Country Club Republicans, or RINOS like it or not. There is little any of these three can do to prevent it. And the more they try, the deeper in crap they will get. That includes Mitt Romney, Steele, and all of the rest of the RNC drones who will either change or get the hell out of Dodge. Its a movement, the likes of which you witnessed today in Worcester MA. And Sarah Palin happens to be one of its progenitors.
What a great strategy this author advocates: let the MSM and the libtards savage our strongest candidate, declare her “Quailed”, shrug your shoulders, bury the body, and line up behind some Casper Milquetoast squishy moderate RINO. I’m not buying it. This guy strikes me as a Romneybot, and a mysogenist one at that.
Quayle stepped OFF the National platform after leaving office. I am willing to bet not one person here can state with accuracy what Quayle has been doing since Clinton was elected without going to google for help.
Palin however wrote the number one selling book of 2009, and attracts standing room only crowds everywhere she goes. She is everything Quayle is not.
So, in other words, we need to give up on Sarah Palin and give in to bigotry and prejudice? That’s how we win this war? Surrender? I don’t think so.
...Perhaps their editor was having a bad day and let this one slip through the cracks.
Just remember, these ass clowns tell us everyday who they are TERRIFIED can beat Obama..tell me, if the left was so convinced she was a dummy, they wouldn’t waste 2 seconds on her. I don’t see the left going after Bobby Jindal, what happened to him anyway. Its like he disappeared off the face of the earth. I don’t see CNN and MSNBC going after Pawlenty or Romney or anyone else. They ONLY trash her, they wouldn’t waste their time on a dummy, but they would be scared shitless about someone they KNOW can beat their face prophet
