Am I 'skating near the legal edge of making threats of violence'?

My column "The Perfect Storm," dealing with Hillary Clinton's reversal of U.S. policy to accept the UN's Arms Trade Treaty, appears in the March issue of GUNS Magazine, now on sale at news stands and also online. Every month, the magazine posts its current issue in digital form, accessible by clicking on the flash icon in the upper-right section of their home page. For those of you on dial-up or with older computers, you can still read my current column and many of the other features via traditional html web pages by scrolling down and clicking on links.

But that's not what I want to talk about.

Early on when I began writing about Second Amendment issues, I found that being criticized in print was every bit as satisfying as being published--and a reader who sent a letter to the editor that's printed in the new issue's "Crossfire" section (page six) does not disappoint. To understand what he's upset about, you first need to read my January column, "The Most Dangerous Game" (sorry, this one is only available in the flash edition--from the "Rights Watch" page, click on the "January" link).

To summarize, MSNBC commentator Rachel Maddow said she enjoys shooting, but thinks we should not be "allowed" to take our guns home from the range. And leftist cartoonist and columnist Ted Rall had this to say about armed citizens in public who had conducted themselves peacefully and broken no laws:

The left-wing can talk openly about ignoring the constitution, effectively overthrowing the United States government, yet, they think we should not talk about stopping them?

Bring it on!

“I suspect that most of us “gun owners” have decided that we are entering a time when “law abiding” has no place next to “gun owner”.”

If their laws are Communism, I want to be a criminal. Of course, might is right, so if we win we get to make the laws, including enforcing one that says they have attempted to overthrow the government and are to be hanged.

Rach, here is a fun thought. Let's lock YOU up at the range and take the guns home instead.

Whaddya think `bout that, "hunny?"

What is so terrible about law-abiding citizens owning guns to exercise their right, given to them by law God, to defend themselves?

What I particularly LOVE about that idiot Rall's comment is that he is basically stating that if someone is seen as a potential threat, then they should be eliminated...

I see Rall as a potential threat to constitutional government in our nation; he needs to be...

Ted Rall revealed himself as a very disturbed scum-sucking low-life early on after 9/11, so I am unsurprised at seeing his stupidity on this.

And I really hate denigrating scum-sucking low-lifes with the comparison, but it’s the best I can do without descending into text likely to get moderated / me banninated.

When politicians decide to outlaw guns, tens of millions of otherwise law-abiding Americans with tens of millions of guns, billions of rounds of ammunition, and a great deal of experience with them, will then be designated as criminals.

There are not tens of millions of law enforcement personnel available, let alone willing, to attempt to enforce such laws.

As such, all guns laws in effect would become menaingless. If you're already a "criminal" for merely owning a gun, might as well open carry. If everyone is open-carrying, who's going to be the first Barney Fife to attempt to disarm anyone? No one.

Crime would likely be reduced to all time lows and politicians would be living in bunkers, never to be seen in public again.

Cornelius Fudge: You will now be escorted back to the Ministry, where you will be formally charged, then sent to Azkaban to await trial!
Albus Dumbledore: Ah. Yes. Yes, I thought we might hit that little snag.
Cornelius Fudge: Snag? I see no snag, Dumbledore!
Albus Dumbledore: Well, I’m afraid I do.
Cornelius Fudge: Oh, really?
Albus Dumbledore: Well - it’s just that you seem to be labouring under the delusion that I am going to- what is the phrase? - come quietly. I am afraid I am not going to come quietly at all, Cornelius. I have absolutely no intention of being sent to Azkaban. I could break out, of course - but what a waste of time, and frankly, I can think of a whole host of things I would rather be doing.

Sometimes folks make the comment (dark humor I suppose), “See you in the camps.”

I have no intention of seeing anyone in any camps.

Only those that made the camps!

Sorry to be repetitive, but consider what do the Marxists/Leninists/Fascists/Progressivists/Stalinists/Socialists/Communists/etc. , Think of guns:
‘Every Communist must grasp the truth that political power grows out of the barrel of a gun’
-Mao Zedong

‘One man with a gun can control 100 without one’ Vladimir Lenin

‘A system of licensing and registration is the perfect device to deny gun ownership to the bourgeoisie’ Vladimir Lenin

‘We want them registered’ Nancy Pelosi

‘We don't let them have ideas. Why would we let them have guns?’
Joseph Stalin

The founding fathers knew the values of guns as a bulwark against tyranny.

What does it say about the National Socialist Left that they want to take away the basic human right of self-defense?

I could see the possibility of a rescue mission. Hopefully there would never be the need, but there you have it.

Otherwise, I completely agree.

We will see politicians in Pillories along the National Mall long before anyone goes to "camps."

“Is Ted Rall going to get a job going door to door collecting outlawed guns?”

Are you sure there’d be more than one door in that job?

“There are not tens of millions of law enforcement personnel available, let alone willing, to attempt to enforce such laws.”

The number that I hear is one cop to 1,500 citizens. If you throw in all of the alphabet soup federal agencies, it’d still be 1 to 1,000 or more. Not all of those wearing badges can be counted on to fire on their fellow citizens if the SHTF. Sadly, some of can be.

And likewise, sadly, some gun-owners might take their frustrations at politicians out on a badge. Both sides giving their own side a bad name.

You and your fellow travelers are playing a most dangerous game."

I know that they are not, but, they should heed that warning. Our side is like someone that has been pushed into a corner by a bully andhas been taunted and slapped in the face he is madly insane. And when he begins to fight back,he will be fighting for his life. Al of the rage he has kept pent up over the years will come to the surface and he will be unable to control it. When it starts, it will make both the French Revolution and the Cultural Revolution by the Red Guards seem like a walk in the park. It will be mors savage than the hand-to-hand fighting was at Stalingrad. There will be no quarter asked or given. Some of us will be killed, but, many, many more of them will. So, just keep onpushing Socialists, you are going to get what you are pushing for.
