A year into his tenure, a majority of Americans would already vote against Pres. Obama if the '12 elections were held today, according to a new survey.
The Allstate/National Journal Heartland Monitor poll shows 50% say they would probably or definitely vote for someone else. Fully 37% say they would definitely cast a ballot against Obama. Meanwhile, just 39% would vote to re-elect the pres. to a 2nd term, and only 23% say they definitely would do so.
Obama's first year in office has been marked by an unemployment rate that surged to 10%, an increased commitment of troops to Afghanistan and a health care battle that has taken a serious political toll on the WH.
Obama's approval rating is down to 47%, the poll showed, a 14-point drop since the April survey. 45% disapprove, up 17 points from April. Only 41% say they trust Obama more than Congressional GOPers, while 33% pick the GOP over the WH. That 8-point gap is down from a 21-point edge Obama sported as recently as Sept.

14 months too late.
This is below the 43% threshold which seemed to be the Clinton Base.
Yippie!
Still, look at all those humps who would “definitely” vote for him again. Shocking.
Hmmm 63% say he is snake oil salesman.. is that the “right” poll?
>just 39% would vote to re-elect the pres.
1) Ann Coulter once said, 40% of the country works for the government, or gets government checks. They will lie any lie to keep the gravy flowing.
“Repeal to 1789”. All in one shot.
If only we had do-overs in federal elections. As it is, if McCain had been elected, we would have moved leftward at a much slower pace and the people would have stayed asleep.
After a year with hemorrhoids, AIDS and brain cancer, only 39% still want them.
WTF is wrong with people??
Obamalaise. Can you feel it?
I take no comfort in this. I never thought Obama would be elected in the first place. I didn’t realize that 52% of Americans are retarded. I suspect that percentage grows over time. The members of that 52% are unhappy now, because the MSM isn’t in campaign mode. Once it begins, the media will pepper the weak minds with stories on how good things are, how it would be worse with Bush, how the world loves us now, how great it is to have the messiah as our “first black president, (appologies to Bill Clinton).
If we see poll results like this in October of 2012, I will be encouraged.
I agree with you but tell me one year ago would you have predicted that the Messiah’s fortunes would have fallen so quickly. You have to admit our side has much more HOPE for 2010 than we thought we have now.
“You have to admit our side has much more HOPE for 2010 than we thought we have now.”
Well, I knew Obama would mess stuff up, and I knew he wouldn’t be paying mortgages, and filling gas tanks. So, I figured there would be a fall off. But I agree, didn’t think it would be this sharp of a fall off. I’m cautiously optimistic about 2010. The MSM won’t go to the mat for rank and file Rats like they will for Obama.
But, the reason for my pessimism about 2012 isn’t Obama, it’s my loss of faith in many Americans. Here in the blue part of Ohio, people really are ready for socialism/communism.
