The Democrat-controlled House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday rejected by a 15-14 vote a resolution of inquiry that would have forced the Justice Department to tell Congress why it dismissed a civil complaint against members of the New Black Panther Party who disrupted a Philadelphia polling place in the November 2008 election.
The party-line vote had been sought by Rep. Frank R. Wolf, Virginia Republican, who, along with Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, said they have been unable to get information from the department on the complaint's dismissal.
"I am deeply disappointed that the Judiciary Committee defeated my resolution of inquiry on a party-line vote. There has been no oversight, no accountability and certainly no transparency with regard to this attorney general and this Department of Justice," Mr. Wolf said.
"Where is the 'unprecedented transparency' that this administration promised? Where is the honesty and openness that the majority party pledged? The American people deserve better," he said.
..."I sincerely question the judgment of the Civil Rights Division leadership both in its dismissal of this case and its stonewalling of this Congress and the Commission on Civil Rights," he said.

The article doesn’t say how many Democrats voted in favor of the inquiry, but if the vote was 15-14 against then at least 3 or 4 must have voted with the Republicans (Democrats have far more than a one-vote majority in House committees).
It means the panthers, or any other radical left wing extremist group, can do it anywhere at any time. The president has been set - the government ok'd it.
Maybe we should all arrive this fall to the elections in Black Panther attire. There was patriots that arrived to a tea party dressed like raging Indians once.
I think cover up all the statues of Lady Justice in this country while the Democrats and their band of jolly criminals are uninterested upholding the laws of our once great nation. Justice no longer is blind in this country, it seems to depend on who holds the keys to the kinddom.
Or not shower for at least a week before we show up to vote. The panthers would think we were democrats and let us pass peacefully. Oh, and make sure your clothes are a mess to make it more realistic.
You're talking about Holder and his DOJ thugs, right?
Thats what I was thinking also. The Repubs on the committee wouldn’t have brought up the issue if they didn’t think they had a chance of getting it passed. Maybe Rahm made some calls
Democrats will squeal like stuck pigs if a Republican administration tries this in the future.
How about sending a group of Hell's Angels to any district where the BP's try this garbage?
They are overwhelming the American public and fighting on many fronts. Getting resistance or unwanted attention? Switch to another front. They set off flash bombs to draw attention while doing the dirty work in the shadows.
There can be no other reason for their actions than to break the system, so they can reassemble the system to mold it in their image of government as god.
Actually, I see that there are 25 Democrats (one of whom resigned from Congress a couple of weeks ago) and 15 Republicans on the committee. If the vote was 15-14, obviously there were a lot of absences. Perhaps 14 of the 15 Republicans showed up, and all voted AYE, and no Democrat voted for it.
Hey - they need these people next Tuesday. HELLO.
The problem for me with not showering for a week is that unlike a lot of democrats, I work, and it might cause some friction with my other coworkers.
