US EVANGELICAL preacher Pat Robertson has blamed Haitians directly for the devastating earthquake, saying that the country "swore a pact to the devil'' at its creation. "Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it,'' Robertson said on his Christian Broadcasting Network show The 700 Club.

The 80-year-old former presidential candidate said Haitians were originally "under the heel of the French".

"You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever.

"And they got together and swore a pact to the devil.

"They said, we will serve you if you will get us free from the French. True story.

On the other hand, prior to His discipline advancing to more painful stages, He frequently bestows even more grace upon those whom He loves, seeking for them to return to Him before their destruction.

In today’s world, where everything unfolding in Haiti is delivered to the eyes of the world, perhaps He has been more graceful to them, affording observers an opportunity to return to Him, prior to their discipline if they should fail.

The real devastation might be forthcoming upon the observers than upon the Haitians. So instead of rendering aid independent of faith in Christ, countable as dead works, it is far more important to perform all things through faith in Him, allowing God the Holy Spirit to glorify the Son.

Months earlier President Aristide had gathered 400 voodoo priests, many of them imported from Africa apparently at taxpayer expense, for a ceremony.

You know I think God paints with a very wide brush..

My Pastor did a mission to Haiti last year, the people there are heavily involved in VooDoo. The VooDoo "priests " have flags outside their homes declaring their specialities..

Would God punish a nation dedicated to a VooDoo god, that still is a part of their spiritual lives? I can see that God would cause chaos there to have Christians flow in there with aid AND THE GOSPEL...

I can also see this as an opportunity for the church to live out its mission to go and tell.

We believe that God has blessed our nation because it was formed under Him and dedicated to Him.. we see some of the effects of the removal of His hand of restraint protecting our nation in the world today.Because of the loss of God in Christ as the center of our nation

If we believe God has cared for America under His care, how can we not believe a nation dedicated to a demonic god did not suffer from the oppression of that god?
