President Obama will address the House Republican Conference later this month during their retreat in Baltimore, being held Jan. 28th to 30th.
Obama was invited by the elected GOP Leadership to speak a few weeks ago and will take them up on their offer. ...
Despite that gracious tone, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor wrote this morning in a statement:
“Though it’s welcome news that President Obama will speak with House Republicans later this month, it is important to point out that true bipartisanship requires working together on common-sense solutions and a mainstream agenda to help Americans facing difficult challenges. It is important to ask whether the President plans to meet WITH Republicans, or speak TO them. In 2009, on the rare occasion when we were invited to the White House, the President paid Republican proposals lip service while the cameras were on, only to completely rebuff those ideas afterward. The problems faced by our country have grown too large for the President to respond to Republican and Independent views and solutions with indifference, like in 2009. I hope this is a sign that a new year will bring change.”

Another reason to start a “Conservative” party. When it’s impossible to tell one political party from another why continue to live the charade?
Well, they ran McCain (D) in 2008, so why not listen to Obama (D) in 2010?!

U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, Chairman of the House Republican Conference, issued the following statement today regarding the president’s address to the House Republican Conference later this month:
“House Republicans are grateful that the President of the United States has accepted our invitation to meet with the Republican Conference later this month.
“House Republicans look forward to presenting the president with our proposals to protect our nation, create jobs, control federal spending, lower the cost of health care, achieve energy independence and strengthen families.”
Both “sides” will make a camera-ready production out of ‘reaching out’ and ‘accommodating’ each other, and will
quickly return to Square One, because that’s what they are good at. This is likely only conceived as a “show” designed to mollify what they think of as their respective “constituencies”—what they don’t know is that BOTH are losing their constituencies FAST~

I never had much use for Mike Pence, but his statement
might as well have been “WE JUST DON’T GET IT!BUT COME ON AND TALK TO US, MAYBE WE’LL COME OUT SMELLIN’ LIKE A ROSE!”
The ONLY justification for these apparently craven and regressive words is that they think Obama’s on the ropes and knows it, and THAT’S what’ll give them some leverage.

You have a point - The Republican Party was born out of the old Whig Party in 1856.
If we cannot takeover the GOP, we patriots need to create a new major political party in which the party platform is something that carries weight.
Also, party discipline would be nice. Those reps who ignore the party line when elected need to be immediately removed from their political office.
