After spending five months pondering a fat stack of TV offers, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has signed a multiyear deal with Fox News to serve as a contributor across all Fox News platforms.
I am thrilled to be joining the great talent and management team at Fox News, Palin said in the Fox announcement. Its wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balanced news.
Palin, often described as having the hottest brand in American politics after President Barack Obama, was eagerly courted by both cable and broadcast networks, starting the day she announced she was leaving the Alaska governorship.
Bill Shine, Fox News executive vice president of programming, Gov. Palin has captivated everyone on both sides of the political spectrum and we are excited to add her dynamic voice to the Fox News lineup.
Fox said Palin will provide political commentary and analysis for Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, FoxNews.com and Fox News-produced special event political programming for Fox Broadcasting.
Palin will also host periodic episodes of Fox News Real American Stories, a series exploring inspirational real-life tales of overcoming adversity throughout the American landscape that will debut in 2010, the network said.
The Fox announcement continued: Gov. Palin is the author of the current No. 1 New York Times best-seller, Going Rogue: An American Life. Her book tour to over 30 cities attracted thousands of people and extensive media coverage.
Palin was the first woman to serve as governor of Alaska. She was sworn in as the 11th governor of the state in 2006 and worked on improving resource development, education, health and transportation and infrastructure development.
In August 2008, then Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain selected Gov. Palin to run as his vice presidential candidate.
Prior to holding the office of governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council in Alaska as well as two terms as the mayor and manager of Wasilla and worked as an oil and gas industry regulator.
THAT GIVES HER 12 TO 18 MONTHS OF FACETIME ON TV ON A REGULAR BASIS SEEN BY MILLIONS EACH TIME...PLUS ALL HER SPEECHES...SHE’LL BE EXCELLENTLY POSITIONED TO ANNOUNCE SHE IS RUNNING.”
Ditto!
Ha! That's one I've not heard of before. You certainly know how to turn a phrase.
She was picked for VP,
And that worked out well for her, didn't it!
What would she accomplish as a member of Congress? Virtually nothing.
Now, you don't know that! Besides, doesn't really make any difference now that she'll be on FOX. That could vault her right into office
Your reasoning is the same condescending BS tripe that's been heard over and over again.
Nope, nothing condescending about it. All I'm saying is just because you think she should be President it won't happen in '12 IMO.Maybe some day, but not that soon
after she’s been on the air a bunch of times (so that it doesn’t just seem like a campaign stunt) she should publicly invite Obambi to a series of live TV interviews and/or debates with NO TELEPROMPTER ALLOWED....... he’d refuse of course but it could be fun to make him appear to all as the cowering weasel that he is...........
I don’t think being a Rep. in Congress for the minority party brings any significant public exposure or opportunity to build any national track record..... especially in the current environment where the ‘Rats control both houses and the WH..... the best she could do in that situation would be to issue PRs and statements, and she’ll have a far bigger megaphone on Fox, imho.
She needs to pursue her unique career with hints of Ronald Reagan -— he did his broadcast/ideas before he became Gov. of Calif., while Sarah has already been Gov. (not saying Gov. of Alaska is comparable to Gov. of Calif. but at least it’s real executive experience, unlike Obambi, Hillary, Kerry, Edwards, Albore, and almost anyone the ‘Rats have put forward in recent years).
I think she can now broaden and deepen her experience in the public battles of ideas ala Reagan.... granted, she’s now in a very unconventional path for a national pol with presidential aspirations, but then so much about her is unique.
Brevity is the soul of wit. You do a great job summarizing the facts.
Both obviously would give her exposure, and am certainly looking forward to what she does on FOX, but not sure she won't be preaching just to the choir. I'm sure there will be some curiosity seekers that will tune in to watch her, but not sure how long that will last.
I would think a couple of years in Congress could expose more of the serious/intellectual side of her that most of her critics feel she doesn't possess. She'll certainly attract attention in whatever format she's in, but, IMO, Congress is a more formal setting in which to express herself.
You’ve got that right. She’s driving them crazy and hasn’t even started with FOX.
I’m thrilled to see this. It’s good for Palin and for Fox.
HMM multi year could be Feb 2010- Feb 2012 leading right into the next Presidental race. Wonder if we will see an Obama interview?
“After spending five months pondering a fat stack of TV offers”
They might have been some of the offers?
Probably not New Yawk.
North Carolina, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nevada, Florida, New Mexico... are states she could flip over and win.
She will be on O’Reily tomorrow
Let's get a grip on reality.
Sarah Palin was elected Governor of a State with half of the population of San Diego, CA ..... then she quit before her first term was up.
Has anybody ever heard of this guy outside of San Diego County?
Mayor Jerry Sanders (R) of San Diego, CA has "executive experience" over twice as many citizens as Sarah Palin ever had and he is on his second term which means he did not quit in the middle of his first term.
If either Barack Obama or Sarah Palin were white males, like the much more experienced Mayor Jerry Sanders, nobody would have seriously considering either one of them for any high national office in 2008.
Barack Obama was America's first Affirmative Action President and America does not need a second one.
Imus??? lol. Who listens to him? Dude's a putz.
That's nice, but how about some quotes? What does he stand for? Why haven't folks heard of him? I live in CA and have never heard of him. ...?
Only fools watch such programming these days.
Let them all rot in their hatred.
“Ill watch any program she is on.”
Which is why she’ll help BOR’s ratings against Beck.
It’s a multiyear contract which will exclude 2012, unless she quits which will be a self-defeating move.
She’s just getting more time to get her point of view across to more people before Hussein shuts Fox down in the coming centralized take over of the US. She knows the fix is in.
Mix in Hussein Ezecutive Orders and some of Clinton’s EOs and it will not take much to tip the balance.
Excellent post!!
