"Jaguar Stolen With Gun, Security Badge Police say they are still looking for the car" By ANDY SALSMAN Updated 12:41 PM EST, Sun, Jan 10, 2010
SNIPPET: "Police say they are still looking for the car, as well as a black Ford Expedition that may be connected to the case.
The suspect is described as a black male, possibly in his 20's, with shorter length dreadlocks, slim build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans."

ping
Black dude with dreadlocks, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, driving a Jag in DC. Shouldn’t be too hard to spot....
Gone in 60 Seconds...
Took several looks to figure this out. I thought maybe the gun and badge were used to buffalo the victims of a robbery, which was in the zoo.
Isn’t that the truth.
Okay, first off we had the DC Metro Detective driving a Hummer and now a DC Courthouse Security Guard driving a Jaguar?
Used Jags are stupid cheap.
0bama?
Good paying jobs, probably.
Ping.
My brother in law, a retried cop, once told me that black criminals wear the same outfits sometimes in an effort to thwart the police. They all wear dark jeans with dark sweatshirts, so that when the cops drive by the streets after the liquor store is ripped off, they see 500 young black men in their 20's wearing dark jeans and hooded sweatshirts with dark sneakers.
Works for them.

Well thanks for all the info. That narrows it down considerably.
Sure. Their wives are very frugal with the housekeeping money and they work a lot of overtime.
See, that explains it :-)
Plus, they prolly bought those neat wheels on the, 'No money down, 48 month repossession plan'.
('scuse me for buttin' in)
I believe it.
I listen to CHI PD calls (like now), and that description fits almost 1/2 of the perps going over the air for a violent crime (robbery, purse snatching, etc). The other 1/2 are Latinos, but they have the 'Black Hoodie & Jeans' thing down too.
The only thing that helps in catching them is a getaway car description or direction of flight if on foot. And if they're on foot they almost always get caught. (Pretty cool how the cops will box in an area then close in for the collar).
Now the 'Domestic Battery' calls are starting. (mostly drunk & latino)
My old city went to hell! Thanks Daley.
“Used Jags are stupid cheap.”
I don’t know if it still applies, but my experience with Jags is that whatever you think you’re saving up front on the purchase price, you make up for in repair/restoration costs.
(I still want my MkII back)
Some models that still applies to, but they actually beat Lexus in short, medium and long term quality with a few of their 90s models.
You can get one, such as a 97 XJ6, for less than $5000 in excellent shape.
Given a choice of econocrapbox-of-the-week and a 97 XJ6, I’ll take the XJ6.

That the desciption of the bad guy or the security guard ?
Go cruise your local post office parking lot. I have some cop a mile away living in a $1.9 million home. Maybe he “retired” with full pay then got rehired. A local town of maybe 100,000 has a fireman like that making close to $300,000 a year.
