Grammy Award-winning music artist Ray Stevens has recorded a song and video that is fast becoming the anthem of the Tea Party Movement.

“We the People” is about Obamacare and the health-care reform bills that have passed both houses of Congress.

The lyrics express a comic, but pointed warning to members of Congress: “You vote Obamacare, we’re going to vote you out of there. We the People have awakened to your tricks. You vote to let this pass, you’re going to be out on your (sound of foghorn).” ...

Stevens has done a bunch of comedy songs. The one that pops to my mind is the Mississippi Squirrel Revival. There’s also Ahab the Arab.

Ray is a distant cousin of mine. Stevens isn’t his real surname. .....Proud to say we’re related many generations back!

The term progressive is usually used to keep from saying Communist.

Yeah, he’s just not pure enough to sing an anthem for the tea parties. Ya’ got me. Maybe Jesus Christ is available. You obviously have a direct line to JC, can you ask him to do a song for the tea party movement? Actually if all you know Stevens for is the streak song, then you don’t know too much about him.

Here’s another patriot musician, more rock. Kind of a long intro but the music and words are awesome.

I like Ahab the Arab.

Leftists will probably start attaching Stevens as "racist" for that song now.

I agree.

I like Ray Stevens, and I like his song. It’s a very humorous take on a serious message. I hope it gains in popularity. I sent it to folks in my address book. But, it isn’t “anthem” material. The Tea Party movement already has an anthem! : )

Lloyd Marcus is a patriot and entertainer who has been actively involved in the Tea Party movement from the beginning. He has been traveling the country with the people - walkin’ the walk and doin’ the work, so to speak.

I’ve been sending his songs to everyone in my address book too. Just “spreadin’ the news!” : )

Yeah, that’s the way it’s used *by Communists* and other Leftists who realized that their actions had made the word “liberal” too unpopular among Americans. Progressive used to have other connotations, not all of them bad (for example, U.S. progressives established popular primaries for the selection of party nominees), and in many areas the word was used to denote economic progress.

Oh I’m so glad to see that someone on “Free Republic” has it! My Dad saw it last night on one of the “Fox News” shows, and he found it on “You Tube”. My Mom had seen it at the same time, and she was giggling about it too! So he played it for me; it was hilarious!

Most if not all our family are big fans of Ray Stevens, and have been for many years. We used to have a couple of video tapes of many of his song videos. I’m surprised that they hadn’t heard the one he made of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina! It was not to mock the situation there, or most of the people and sad situations.

It was to mock the behavior of some of the celebrities and political leaders, the looters, protest groups, etc. and the things they said! I think the video can be found on “You Tube”, in the section where the old Johnny Horton classic is found. In fact it is titled- “The New Battle Of New Orleans”, and uses the tune of Johnny Horton’s older song. (I hope it’s still there, unless it was removed since then)That’s a scream too!

Ray S. has come out with a couple of new songs in the last few years. He’s been on a couple of “Fox News” shows in the last several months. One of them may have been S. Hannity’s show, and M. Huckabee’s too. I hadn’t heard hardly any of his work for a long time. He had a song that came out after we went into Afghanistan; then there didn’t seem to be anything at all from him. I thought he had retired or maybe was sick or something!

Those are a couple of my favorites also! Have you ever heard his song that came out after the war started in Afghanistan? It was called- “Osama Yo Mama” (I think). It was done with a mid-eastern tune like “Ahab The Arab”, but slower! It had my elderly Mom giggling!

She and my Dad were watching him do the new one about Obama-care last night on a “FNC” show, and my Dad found it on “You Tube”. When I got home last night, they showed it to me, and all three of us were laughing our butts off! Most of my family have been/still are, big fans of Ray’s for a long time!
