Scandal-Plagued Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut retires at the lowest point in an overly long, 35-year, political career. The son of a career politician (his father occupied one of Connecticut's senate seats for 12 years), Dodd has seen his already overly long, Senate career deteriorate among many scandal-plagued issues in the last few years, thus leading to some of the worst poll numbers of his career and a near-impossible matchup against his potential, Republican challenger for his seat. Though Democrats gave Dodd a big role as one of the primary advocates of the ill-fated healthcare "reform" pushed by Obamahow they seriously thought that would rehabilitate his damaged image is beyond me, considering Obamacare is very unpopular with the American peopleit nonetheless failed to turn around his sagging fortunes.

exactly and well spotted.
He’ll go on to a position in the admin while they get a decent younger liberal to run and in the meantime Dodds will go against everything the public wants.
So when the new lib comes up he or she will say that was not me that was Dodds
all of this is such a scam
Dodd will become rich almost overnight. Just watch how quickly it happens for him......just like Gore ;-)
Is this a joke? I can't find anything about this on the local news sites.
3 Democrats 2 senators, 1 governor to retire (AP)

He should be prosecuted for corruption and imprisoned.
We were afraid of this. I think we could have beat Dodd. Unfortunately with Blumenthal in the race, we have a bigger challenge. He’s been a publicity hound for years, very popular with Dems and Unaffiliated voters, and has tremendous name recognition. That being said, it still put a smile on my face this morning.
Perhaps to his house in Ireland - the one that he got such a great deal on...a deal that doesn’t make much financial sense - to the seller anyway.
The Clinton’s own a house over there too.
Sad thing is that voters in his district will afford Dodd’s democratic replacement candidate undue credibility... They will remain democrat, blaming the individual instead of party ideology.
The man is a CROOK who has lined his own pockets for decades. He has done great damage to this country. His “accomplishments” as chair of the Senate Banking Committee have helped to destroy our economy. His consistent support of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, regardless of how badly run they were, permitted that situation to spin out of control. But he was too busy getting insider deals on his mortgages to figure out what was going on. Good. RIDDANCE.
I would not put it past the Dims to run candidates who scream at the top of their lungs they hate the new Health care law and also need to modify the Immigration Bill that will be rammed through soon. They will do this to the point they will not piss off too much of their kook base and get elected then a few weeks later they will then tell us that after they have looked closely at the laws and think they are fine. The Dims are beyond liars, they are traitors to this country.
I didn't think pirates and thieves ever retired!
Talk is the CT AG Richard Blumenthal might run and keep the seat Dem.
He’s a Dem hack and would likely win in this lib state.
Whoever runs for the dems needs to be smeared with Dodd’s crap non-stop, because that’s exactly what they’ll be running. Dodd has screwed this country since 1974 when he killed corporate R&D.
With respect, who's going to prosecute him? Certainly not this Congress, and certainly not this coward Attorney General...
Since when would a scandal have any impact on what Senator Dodd did or whether he ran for re-election? The guy is a crook and should be in jail for his contributions to Fannie and Freddie and the overall weakness in the current economy. Good riddance. Now lets make sure a Republican is elected in his place.

Roll on, fuzzball.
