President Barack Obama scolded 20 of his highest-level officials on Tuesday over the botched Christmas Day terror attack on an airliner bound for Detroit, taking them jointly to task for "a screw-up that could have been disastrous" and should have been avoided.
After that 90-minute private reckoning around a table in the super-secure White House Situation Room, a grim-faced Obama informed Americans that the government had enough information to thwart the attack ahead of time but that the intelligence community, though trained to do so, did not "connect those dots."
"That's not acceptable, and I will not tolerate it," he said, standing solo to address the issue publicly for the fifth time and the first in Washington since the Dec. 25 incident.
Afterward, the White House released quotes from the Situation Room session. Disclosing Obama's words during a private meeting is normally strictly off-limits for this White House and most others before it. In this case, Obama advisers are eager to portray the president as aggressively on the job even as he has little, or in this case nothing, new to announce about how to tackle the security lapses that allowed the airline plot to almost succeed.

No rolling of Napolitano’s head??? He is a joke!
I wouldn’t.. I’d more likely break his nose and pull his ears until he cried. ;>)
Those dirty POS sent Wolf out to MSNBC to float the idea that a cabal in our intelligence services created this Christmas Day failed attack to harm the President.
Seems they are accusing others of doing something they would do.
We are in so much danger from these evildoers.
When asked if the President bore any responsibility for the attack, Gibbs said NO!
The rest of us connected the dots on September 12th 2001.
Before you can connect the dots you have to have the intelligence to comprehend the facts.
0bama directed that the most dangerous of all
terrorists be captured or killed immediately:
Which American soldier is that? Janet would know!
The buck stops on your desk, dude. Fix or exit.
It isn’t President Obama’s fault, it is Bush’s fault!
Does ‘not connecting the dots’ really mean this is Jamie Gorelick revisited?
“Sorry, Mr. President: but the buck stops with YOU!!”
Somehow the dots were connected when GWB was in the WH ... OR did the terrorists simply know there would be unacceptable consequences to too many attempts when Bush was POTUS?
Under President Bush, TSA employees who questioned someone were not punished for “profiling”. The TSA stopped a lot of incidents long before they came to public attention, as did the CIA and DIA. With new leadership came new directives, and TSA employees became worried that they would be “thrown under the bus” if they examined the wrong person. This fear has allowed incidents to multiply and Obama’s actions of chewing out the intel people will reinforce the idea that they must Cover Their 360.
