Law enforcement sources have confirmed to WCCO-TV that there is a lockdown at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Officials are evaluating security concerns and a partial evacuation of Lindbergh Terminal is underway.
The bomb squad from the Bloomington Police Department has also been called to the airport.
Is this why Obama’s announcement on his terror meeeting hasn’t started yet?
Was supposed to begin at 4PM/EST..
Geez, two airports closed now. My elderly parents are flying home from my brother’s place in Georgia today, with a plane change to boot. Hopefully they don’t get caught up in this mess...
i gotta fly to DC tomorrow.
I’m gonna be praying hard.
Better you than me. I drive everywhere now. I refuse to pay that much money to be treated that badly.
I flew out of there on the 1st...so sorry I missed all the “fun”
Jeez, Jack Cafferty is now asking the question “Is it time to start profiling on airline security?”
I almost fell off my chair...
Why strap a bomb to your chest, or hide some C4 up your a$$, when you can cause panic just by leaving a paper bag in an airport corridor and walking serenely away??
My 92 year-old mom is heading off to the sunny south from Mpls. tomorrow this time. I’m sure glad that it wasn’t today. She’s pretty hardy, but I think it is only in the single digits in Mpls. right now. That’s cold enough for anyone - but more so when you are dressed for a flight than when you are dressed for ice fishing.
May be time for the “graphic images” alert.
I hear ya, Tampa to DC is a long drive though. I only fly for business. Vacations are only for places i can drive or float.
Currently a balmy +9 degrees at the airport....
Portions of the Lindbergh terminal at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport have been evacuated after a bomb-sniffing dog detected a suspicious bag that arrived on an inbound flight around 2 p.m.
Parts of the baggage claim and ticketing areas are closed, as is the portion of the roadway closest to those areas, but the airport remains open, said Emberly Hermann, an airport spokeswoman.
Flights are still operating, she said, but there will definitely be delays and cancellations.
She suggested that travelers or those picking up passengers contact their airline.
The half of the roadway thats closest to the parking garage on the upper level is open. The Humphrey terminal was not affected, she said.
islamonutters must laugh at us tying ourselves into knots.
I was in London in 1991 when the IRA was active. Having an underground (subway) train skip a station was a common occurance. So common you could use it as an excuse if you were late for a meeting.
Anyway, I was in the British Museum gift shop when we had a security lockdown. Everyone had to stay where they were until the situation was resolved. There are far worse places to be locked up for half an hour.
Overall, I thought security at Heathrow 1991 was far, far better than Logan 2002. On top of which the British did it politely and gently, yet quite effectively. I so totally agree that Mack Sennett’s ghost could be the head of TSA.
The TSA agent (shown above) with the lost luggage has been reprimanded, ordered to attended CAIR Diversity classes and, as a condition of not being arrested, ordered to attend the nearest Masjid for 12 weeks.
The lost luggage was personally and immediately hand-loaded onto Brother Hasan abu-Farouk al-Jihad's flight by the half-dozen FBI agents called in to investigate possible civil-rights violations.
Brother al-Jihad commented: "I am Muslim and my luggage should not be delayed!"
A team of CAIR lawyers was said to be reviewing possible abuse of Brother al-Jihad.
When asked about the incident, President Obama commented "My National Security experts have gathered and will strive to avoid misplacing *any* future Muslim traveler's luggage."
What if the terrorists find certain aromas or odors that these sniffing dogs like or are alarmed at. They could render the use of dogs, useless.
Update: The suspicious material that shut down the Bakersfield airport was 5 soft drink bottles filled with honey - AP
still no terror announcement..CSPAN rerunning Gibbs presser today.
