Portions of the Lindbergh terminal at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport have been evacuated after a bomb-sniffing dog detected a suspicious bag that arrived on an inbound flight around 2 p.m.

Parts of the baggage claim and ticketing areas are closed, as is the portion of the roadway closest to those areas, but the airport remains open, said Emberly Hermann, an airport spokeswoman.

Flights are still operating, she said, but “there will definitely be delays and cancellations.”

She suggested that travelers or those picking up passengers contact their airline.

The half of the roadway that’s closest to the parking garage on the upper level is open. The Humphrey terminal was not affected, she said.

What if the terrorists find certain aromas or odors that these sniffing dogs like or are alarmed at. They could render the use of dogs, useless.
