Washington - President Obama this morning directly linked the Christmas Day airline-bombing attempt to a Yemen-based branch of Al Qaeda, and he offered a full-throated defense of his administration's anti-terrorism efforts against Republican criticism.
Obama also promised to hold accountable U.S. security officials -- including homeland security, law enforcement and intelligence officers -- in the wake of an ongoing review into breakdowns in terrorism screening that enabled Abdulmutallab to board the plane despite intelligence that suggested he could pose a threat.

The AP version of the story is a bit more complete. It includes the section where Obama gives excuses for the poor Yemeni terrorists:
"We know that he traveled to Yemen, a country grappling with crushing poverty [emphasis added] and deadly insurgencies. It appears that he joined an affiliate of al-Qaida, and that this group al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula trained him, equipped him with those explosives and directed him to attack that plane headed for America," the president said in his weekly radio and Internet address. It was released by the White House during Obama's vacation in Hawaii."
If you are a poor nation, the best thing to do with your limited resources is to attempt to blow us US airliners. uh huh

Probably just after he got twittered by that imam over there telling him it was okay to mention the Al Qaeda connection, that the movement didn't want him to look like a complete idiot.

As long as affirmative action, equal employment opportunity, diversity, and other policies (of highly questionable utility and counter productive) take equal status as the primary mission of an organization, the breakdown will NOT be fixed. More likely, these counterproductive policies guarantee breakdowns sooner or later.
This insanity started with the Carter Administration and will not heal itself, IMO.

Gee, ya think? I wonder how many taxpayer dollars were spent on task forces, committees and reports for him to come up with this revelation.
Stupid and dangerous all at once.

Typical codependent, weak-minded, emotionally-immature liberal - blaming the perp’s actions on some external event. What a girlie-man.
Obama: You still have three years to man up, but you had better start now. Or you will be seeking new living quarters in 2013.

Here’s what i wrote to our friend Tankersly: Hey Captain Obvious, what was your first clue? Was it Obiwan finally acknowledging what the rest of America has known since 2001? Did it take the One to wake you all up to the fact that these bastards will do whatever they can to kill us? Why don’t you spend some time investigating why and how this takes place rather than slavering at the boots of this administration. Yours truly, an OIF vet.
