Abstract
For more than a year, Sarah Palin has been a national Rorschach test. The views expressed about her reveal the distinctions and conflicting perceptions of often antagonistic groups of Americansthe religious and the secular, the conservative and the liberal, the urban and the small town, the elitist and the populist.
And now, with the publication of her autobiography, Going Rogue, and Matthew Continettis The Persecution of Sarah Palin, the Rorschach tests are being administered anew, and with increasing fervor.
For her conservative admirers, she continues to exemplify independence, moxie, common sense, the superiority of the common American over the nations elites, and the embodiment of modern womanhood and Christian faith.
For her detractors, both conservative and liberal, she is uncouth, unschooled, a hick, anti-science and anti-intellectual, an upstart, and a religious fanatic. There is no group so firmly in the latter camp as American Jews. And there is much to learn in their reaction to Palin, both about her and about the sociological makeup of American Jewry today. While Palin enjoys support from some prominent Jewish conservatives, it is not an exaggeration to say that, more so than any other major political figure in recent memory (with the possible exception of Patrick J. Buchanan), she rubs Jews the wrong way . . .
Ask an average American Jew about Palin and you are likely to get a nonverbal responsea shiver, a shudder, a roll of the eyes, or a guffaw. Naomi Wolf, the feminist writer, sputtered that Palin was the FrankenBarbie of the Rove-Cheney cabal, articulating the mixture of contempt and fear that seemed to grip many Jewish women.
The disdain is palpable and largely emotional. While 78 percent of American Jews voted for the Obama-Biden ticket, it is fair to say that most did not harbor animosity toward or contempt for Senator John McCain; the same cannot be said of their view of Palin . . .
She apparently likes the Jewish State of Israel. Sad that some American Jews don't see her as an ally.
American Jews would repeat the errors of their ancestors and do nothing while another holocaust begins including agreeing to disarm and surrender their personal liberty.
Where is Commentary Magazine today? Understand it was first liberal anti-communist, then turned left and then back. I do see what Jeniffer Rubin relates, the animus is especially apparent among conservatives.
Like to know what Rubin's take on the reason is. Its not Israel of course (Palin is better than Obama on Israel). I do not believe its her faith. Reagan was just as devout and got, I believe, 40% of the Jewish vote in 1980. So what gives?
Like to see this fixed. Is there anything she can do? If Rubin is correct and Palin is on a level with Buchanan, she is in for a rough time. She doesn't need a lot of Jewish votes. But if she's at his level...it will be tough.
Jews do not like conservatives. End of proof.
Because she’s NOT Jewish!
Why not?
Christian “zealots” (which actually don’t exist in any number), are the best friends the Jewish people have on this planet. Jews who vote for liberals are self-loathing idiots.
NO more calls, please.
We have a winner!
Full Disclosure: see who Obama backs in the coming Israeli-Iran war. Let a nuke or even a near-miss hit Israel, and we will see whether their loyalties are more with liberalism or with Israel.
I know where the FReepers' sympathies will be :-)
Cheers!
“Their history of choosing the right person(s) is pretty sketchy.”
- Um..yeah. Agreed.

Spot on.
I am a Jew who voted for McCain/Palin, and I find this offensive.
Believe me, the friends and family on my “send” list are already sick and tired of my emails reminding them of every anti-Israel and pro-mooselimb move the usurper and his administration make.
I know a couple of them are at the point where they delete the mails without even reading them.
They are pathetic and in denial, and I do remind them of that on a regular basis.
Yes, FWIW, that's the real meaning of the logical fallacy called: “begging the question”. Unfortunately, that expression is now used incorrectly, far more often than not.
What a cruel way to start the new year!
I’m going back to my seed catalogs.
Followed with: “Why Blacks Hate Palin”, “Why Hispanics Hate Palin”, “Why Leftists hate Palin”, “Why Democrats Hate Palin”, “Why RINOS Hate Palin”, and “Why The Republican Establishment Hates Palin”.
This is the opinion that the liberal elites have about all good patriotic Americans. These people admire Obama and the politicians who are bankrupting and destroying America. They have a weird, irrational hatred for Sarah Palin and other good Americans.
Even those who are pro-Israel have allowed their religion of librulism blind them from the truth. Also, see my post above this one.
That way, they have something to complain about for a hundred years or so.

She's not a liberal. I don't see how this is a "ploy". I believe she's concerned.
