White House Prepares For Immigration Overhaul Battle

The Obama administration is rallying allies to push for a package with better border security and a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants now in the U.S. The effort is sure to be a tough sell.

By Peter Nicholas and Tom Hamburger

December 30, 2009

Reporting from Washington - With the healthcare battle still unfinished, the Obama administration has been laying plans to take up an issue that could prove even more divisive -- a major overhaul of the nation's immigration system.

Senior White House aides privately have assured Latino activists that the president will back legislation next year to provide a path to citizenship for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States.

In a recent conference call with proponents, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina, political director Patrick Gaspard and others delivered the message that the White House was committed to seeing a substantial immigration bill pass and wanted to make sure allies were prepared for the fight.

In addition to the citizenship provision, the emerging plan will emphasize efforts to secure U.S. borders against those trying to cross illegally. But that two-track approach was rejected repeatedly in the past by Republicans and other critics who insist that a border crackdown must demonstrate its effectiveness before any action on citizenship is considered.

memo to congress: Please put the draft legislation on the table early enough for us to read it before the elections in 2010. Make our day!

The consequences of legalizing these felons is immeasurable. They are already a drain on our society, at least those states and communities liberal enough to abide them for cheap labor.

If they are legalized, they will not be 'cheap'. They will demand even more than they sap from this economy already. They will demand credit for the social security payments they've already made using duplicate numbers, they will demand workers' compensation for jobs that they've worked already whose employers 'paid' compensation insurance. They will eschew hospital emergency rooms and go straight for the daytime GP offices now that they are elligible for Medicaid. They will install their mothers/fathers/aunts/uncles on social security (betcha Mexico/US are SS reciprocal)....

In short, they will become the biggest laziest class of no-goods this country has ever seen or will see; and their American-born children will be even worse.

I’m sure all the unemployed AMERICANS will appreciate Obama’s efforts to bring in more cheap labor.

Does this mean citizenship for the unscreened members of Al Qaeda who also crossed at our Southern border? After all, how can we say no to anyone who's already here?

Open borders have consequences.

What other nations afford the same open border policy to all Americans who want to emmigrate?

I watched Olberdork last night rail about how the “You Lie” comment was not only rude but factually incorrect. That undocumented immigrants were not able to take part in the health care reform. So the answer-just document them. See. Obama didn’t lie!

...sigh

in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 1.3 million Mexican nationals
And another half million hauled azz back to Mexico to beat the coming feds looking for them.

We need another Eisenhower on steroids to get rid of the 20 million we have now sucking off the United States without paying taxes.

They are going to try like crazy to pass this. They are going to need those votes ( and the ones they will steal).

Yes, it does. It also means amnesty for the over 4 million visa recipients who have overstayed their visas (many from the middle east) and are roaming around ‘somewhere’. Do you think the jihadists will give their REAl names when applying for a ‘path to citizenship’??

Tea Party Million-Strong March?

Apparently so, and often. Those turds in DC don't seem to learn well.

Wilson was right. States cannot deny the illegal immigrants access to services in this country.
Judge Andrew Napalitano laid out the case from California (prop 187). (see Phyler vs Doe)

If you liked ‘motor voter laws’ (Cloward-Piven) , you’re gonna love ‘universal voter registratio. Coming soon to a polling place near you.

It’s all part and parcel the answer to the question; “WHY would the Democrats push through ObamaCare KNOWING that it’ll cost them at the polls?”

The ANSWER is to ALSO force through immigration reform that makes illegal aliens suddenly not illegal and able to get a driver license legally... with that and ‘motor voter’ they can register to vote (even if it IS illegal, why worry about such things NOW?) and vote overwhelmingly for Democrats.

This is all part of the plan for the 1000 year Reich called the Democrat Party RIGHT to Perpetual Power.

Please put the draft legislation on the table

Just like Charlie Rangel did & said it was a republican bill. Then, he promptly voted against his own bill.

Really, now? In an election year, not to mention a tanking economy, they’re pushing THIS? Didn’t learn from the GOP’s huge mistake back in 2006, did they?
