Per the article the girl and her 6 year old sister were guardians of and living with the aunt. Pity the stupid aunt didn't have the sense to check the sex offenders list before letting that monster anywhere near the kids. Some women amaze me.
It seems like they keep getting new chances until they finally kill someone.
"Leggs is a former boyfriend of the girl's aunt, who is her legal guardian." for at least one moment, this girl had two parents. how did she come to be under the control of an unmarried aunt? are the parents currently in jail? if not, why not?
"A relative discovered she was missing early Wednesday while checking on Sarah and her 6-year-old sister. A charging document says Leggs was the last person seen with Sarah." where was the aunt? is the aunt currently in jail? if not, why not?
and so on.
if we've decided that children are worth no more than this, we have no room for outrage, ever, when something happens to them. if, on the other hand, we think children are humans who have the right to be alive and brought up decently, then we'd best hold people accountable for the answers to the questions above.

I used to concur on the idea of killing sex offenders until I realized a few things:
1. The death penalty means that a sex offender will kill their victim EVERY TIME in order to avoid their certain death. I would rather sending my little girl to counseling than to the morgue.
2. With the amount of prosecutorial misconduct happening anymore (three people in one week freed after huge amounts of time in prison last week), any conservative, antigovernment (remember Waco?), anybody could be labeled as such and sentenced to die.
3. It all comes down to mothers, fathers, and family values. If people would keep families in tact, these monsters would have no avenue. Molestation, etc. is usually a crime of opportunity. Families are breaking apart and molesters are scouring match.com, etc. looking for single mothers.
4. Every sex offender’s name is listed on the internet if they’ve been caught. If these mothers would just check out who they are dating and allowing to watch their children, then a lot of children would be saved.
It all comes down to personal responsibility, not more governmental fixes. Watch your children, keep your family in tact, do some research, etc. If you wouldn’t leave $10,000,000 with somebody before at least googling their name, why would you leave your child?
allocate another spot in the hottest places of hell, please.
I believe we should have a prison island for known sex offenders, and once convicted of “minor” offenses, they should be put there and never allowed to leave, let along live freely in society again.
