Self-Evident Truths: Sen. Dianne Feinstein says it comes under the Commerce Clause. Rep. Steny Hoyer says it's mandated by the "general welfare" clause. Despite liberal wishes, health care is not a right.
The "living Constitution" that Democrats and their court appointees have given us may be the death of our freedoms. Their constitution adapts to the times and serves the whims of the elitists. The Constitution is supposed to limit government powers. It does not allow government to do anything it feels like doing.
Cass Sunstein, the head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, is the author of "The Second Bill of Rights: FDR's Unfinished Revolution and Why We Need It More Than Ever."
He writes glowingly of how President Franklin Roosevelt, unsatisfied with the Constitution the Founding Fathers wrote, proposed a Second Bill of Rights in a speech on Jan. 11, 1944.
One of the new "rights" FDR envisioned was "the right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health." If health care were a right under the U.S. Constitution, FDR would not have had to propose it as one to be added.

Medical care is a service, like auto service. These bills will enslave doctors. Good students who would go into medicine will avoid it. Good doctors will quit rather than be enslaved.

Yes it is a service, like car service. Why can’t we go back to the days when we paid in cash or whatever for doctor check-up. Many doctors do not like dealing with insurance. Insurance was for catastrophic events, which it should be.

I was listening to “The Savage Nation” and one caller took the substitute host to task saying that “promote the general welfare” means that it is the government’s job to provide healthcare. If I wasn’t driving, I would have done the mother of all facepalms.
We need to have a court docket ready to file - charging every single person who voted for this bill and the President to be brought up on charges of TREASON - the minute he signs it!
This is unconstitutional! And since they are no longer bound by the rules and limits of the constitution, then we too are no longer bound and therefore are not required to follow their laws!

Even if we concede that health care is a right (and for that matter food and shelter), it no more follows that the government should tax others to provide me with the means to exercise that right than it does that they should tax others to provide me with a printing press and paper to exercise the right of freedom of the press or a rifle and ammunition to exercise my right to keep and bear arms.
In fact, if health care is a right, it seems to be a right that is severely infringed by the government: we can’t buy health insurance across state lines, we can only buy health care proper from state-licensed physicians, we are forbidden from acquiring many medicines with which we might care for our own health except on orders of the same state-licensed physicians, and so forth.
Much of the problem with American health care can be phrased in terms of the government infringing a right to health care—a circumstance which will become worse if the government undertakes to ‘provide’ health insurance and/or health care.
Feinsten and Hoyer's abuse of the Constitution reminds me of another founding document...

The People’s Rights are not listed or enumerated but the government’s powers are.
