Reid, McConnell Reach Deal to Adjourn Early
Roll Call ^ | December 23, 2009 | By John Stanton

Posted on 12/22/2009 11:58:40 AM PST by MaestroLC

Senate Republicans have agreed to end their filibuster of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) health care reform bill a few hours early on Christmas Eve, a move that will allow the GOP to technically stick to its promise to force Dec. 24 vote on the measure while still making it possible for Senators to return home for the holiday.

Please, stop with that phony line. It is statistically wrong, and you know it. I was ‘pragmatic’ and voted the R ticket...WISH I had not! When we stop voting for these rinos, we’ll get some representation. When the R diehards get the spine to walk away from these phony candidates and the PHONY Republican party, we will see a change.
++++++++++++++

Problem is, while the national leadership of the Republican party may be phony, the party itself is quite real. How do you suggest we take over? I say we drive the RINOs out and create the TEApublican party out of its ashes (whatever it’s called.) Please keep in mind:

“In the history of the United States, not a single third party has come close to winning the presidency, only 7 3rd parties have even won a single state’s electoral votes and only 5 third parties have won even 10% of the vote.”

We can thank the fools who voted Third Party or sat at home last election for this crap.

Please explain how a lack of support for non-conservative republicans translates into the stupidity of McConnell's capitulation.

You can thank liberal and so-called moderate republicans for this crap - not the conservative voters who have been stranded at the altar by the GOP. A lie repeated often enough only sounds like truth to a liberal (and therefore non-discerning) ear.

Flame away, but I don't see how this is selling out. Every single Republican voted against cloture, even Snowe and Collins, but it still passed. We can't stop this thing and the American people know who to blame when this bill's awfulness starts happening.

Third parties are wonderful, when they’re the other side’s. I will forever be grateful to Ralph Nader’s Green Party for Florida in 2000.

Way to go, Mitch. That’s really in the spirit of Valley Forge. “It’s inconvenient to stay here and fight. Let’s go home.”

He is McConnell is being realistic which more than I can say for some here.

We are long past the point where the GOP's "realism" is as much to blame for our situation as the democrat's socialism.

We are at the edge of the abyss, and it is all too clear GOP will take no part in pulling this nation back from the edge.

This isn't for final passage. This sends the monstrosity to conference. This vote has to take place. And, I want to see who amongst the Socalist party will vote no, though they voted to end filibuster. Once it comes back, filibustering can begin anew.

You are missing the point. This is such a bad piece of legislation that it needs to be as painful as possible for the libs to have it passed. The American people KNOW how bad it is and have been telling the Congress so for months. More and more people are joining the chorus, too. This needs to be drug out as long as possible so that the American people can see EXACTLY how committed the libs are to stealing their freedoms and financially enslaving them and their children's children.

This is a war for the very soul of America, and a tipping point ahs been reached. NO leeway can be given on any issue, point or procedure. If the Repubs, and many citizens don't understand that point, and take up the cause, all is lost. This is the last time in history that the tide can be turned. Don't fool yourself, as soon as obama puts pen to paper making this the law of the land, it will NEVER go away; short of a full blown civil war, and will only get bigger and more intrusive.

My response was to the vote them all out montra.

The big picture is - BomaCare wouldn’t be an issue
if he wasn’t elected.
Those who helped with that were the sit at home and Third Party voters.

OK. But how should we effectively move forward? I say take the precincts, caucuses and primaries by storm...like they’ve been doing in Nevada - see meadsjn’s post below.
