If I had my way, I would do away with ALL political parties...the same thing the founders had in mind. Didn’t last long, did it?
+++++++++++++++

OK. But how should we effectively move forward? I say take the precincts, caucuses and primaries by storm...like they’ve been doing in Nevada - see meadsjn’s post below.

Good start. Education on the constitution and our own history would help. And that has to come from us, from the grass roots to our neighbors. Most Americans haven’t a clue what it says or means, much less what their ‘favorite’ candidates say or vote for. Political parties are special interest groups formed to promote special interests.

“If I could not go to heaven but with a party, I would not go there at all.” Thomas Jefferson

And then there is Thomas Paine:
“It is the nature and intention of a constitution to prevent governing by party, by establishing a common principle that shall limit and control the power and impulse of party, and that says to all parties, thus far shalt thou go and no further. But in the absence of a constitution, men look entirely to party; and instead of principle governing party, party governs principle.”
